Wahs are terrible. :red:

That said, this seems capable of sounds a bit less like a normal wah and more like a synthy filter with foot control.

Probably useful for causing destruction.

But holy shit i can't listen to more than half of the clips due to the TGP flashbacks they induce. :red:

Only thing worse in the fx universe, is a chorus pedal. :red:

Which is why it piques my interest. :nods:

I see your chorus pedal and raise you a flanger pedal. :red:

I actually have a flanger pedal that is kind of rad. :red:

It is an odd bird though, runs on a fucked up 24v power supply that uses a 1/4" plug(like a geetar cable stylee), and really more skirts the line between flanger and phaser(i.e. an effect that is actually kind of cool and useful).

On the other hand, the closest a chorus pedal ever came to being useful would be the Univibe, and well, that is sort of kind of its own thing entirely.

What the hell is it and where did you find it? :hypno:

I can't recall the last time I intentionally chorused something that wasn't a synth save for playing some '80s covers. Robert Smith is allowed to have a chorus.

I found one on the 'bay for a buck fiddy, the Silver Machine. I figger I can flip it on TGP if it sucks as it's quite costly even used. No one's bidding on the thing, so I threw down just 'cause. We'll see if I score it.

This is a true fact that we have discussed before. :huzzah:

My flanger of oddness is some sort of old ass DOD. It is bigger than the typical DOD/Digitech box, but a similar shape.

To be completely honest i am not 100% certain that the thing is not slightly broken. It is definitely cool though. Can make some very silly sounds, and if you run it on only 9v it basically sounds like a regular old crappy flanger, but at the full 24v it kind of becomes a different pedal.

Innerestin'. There's something to be said for nasty old effects no one wants.

Does it have a 9v battery compartment or something to power it without the oddball adapter?

Also on the list of fun shit that I'm watching:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/250935672296?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

And if I can get my 'puter shit sorted out now that I have a functioning monitor at home courtesy of my bandmate who boosted it from work:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/280774367086?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

Which is a killer deal, and I would sell my Focusrite to recoup the cost. Need lotsa i/o to integrate a real board though.

I'm jonesing to buy gear for no good reason. It could be worse, like if I was jonesing for meth or something. :idk:

It has the most ghetto arrangement of two 9v clips wired in series for 18v-ish out of two batteries. I actually removed that when i fixed the thing(acquired it in non-functioning state) because 1. Two-battery pedals are stoopid. and 2. The way that the battery clips were wired together, man i *hope* that isn't how DOD shipped the thing; shit was sketchy. :red:

That RME seems such a tiny card for 52 channels. What would you aim to feed it with?

Both of those things look neat actually.

Is that Altec solid state? I don't really know shit about most Altec biz other than bits and pieces about speakers.

I'd have to sort out the conversion for the card. Really depends on what I can score cheap for now, probably older pro stuff that is no longer hip/current generation. For the time being I don't suppose I'd need much just to feed it for tracking and monitoring. The aim in the end would be to have something large and tweaked feeding it, my plan having been Soundcraft Delta full of line channels.

I do believe that Altec is SS from the poking around I did. It looks like a tube unit, but if I'm remembering right from my research that one is not. The transformers are socketed like tubes and are under the mic ins, so I'd need three more trannies to make full use of the unit. That sounded bad. Or hot, take your pick. Apparently this apparatus is all over the Sufjan Stevens stuff, which I've actually never bothered to listen to even though the delightful Ms. Annie Clark guitars for him. It's old broadcast stuff; obviously I'm going for vibe here vs. cleanyclean. Everything is clean now, that's easy.

Just found this old bastard too, been wanting one of these for a good while: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gates-Solid-Statesman-M-6543-Vintage-Compressor-Limiter-Reccaped-/370559042644?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item56470a4454

It would be so easy for me to empty my bank account on nasty old gear... :poop:

I dislike Sufjan Stevens quite a lot, but that still seems a piece of jibjab of a useful variety. :huzzah:

Also: good luck with finding enough trannies for the er... full use of your unit.

Methinks the search in and of itself, might be of an entertaining sort.

Check out the drum clips of the Solid Statesman on a room mic: http://www.gearslut.net/statesclip.wav, http://www.gearslut.net/stateslim.wav

That is properly hideous.

EDIT: beat me to it. That is in fact why I want one. Because room mics are naughty and must be punished.

Gah, I am gear-nuts tonight. I just found a guy selling a 24x8 Yamaha console full of transformer pres and 1073-clone EQs for a hundred fucking dollars in functioning condition. I emailed the dude- it's some guy's stereo store- and I want to check this out in person. Potential massive score as my mixdown desk.

I really doubt I'd get much use out of it, but that does sound like a pretty cool wah.

And I like Sufjan Stevens, but i guess that hardly comes as a I surprise. His older, grittier more punk rawk stuff is charming though.
