Delay and what I want to use it for
So remember how I wanted a whole bunch of options for FX so I could do a whole bunch of crazy shit that I was totally going to do?
Yeah ... me too ...
I tried the multi-fx thing, and it is awesome. The G-Major does everything I want and more. A lot more. Way too fucking much more.
I can dial in amazing delays and reverbs, funcy trems and cheesy chorus to my heart's content, but the multi-fx interface is just not gelling with me. It works damn well, but I'll be damned if I am just not as much of a crazy-ass FX guy as I wish I was. So the G-Major is for sale, and anyone wanting a great piece of hardware let me know.
But this thread is about small boxes, specifically Delays.
I have nailed down exactly what features I want from a delay pedal:
Basic Controls Tap Tempo On/Off Switch
That is it. If it sounds good and does the above, I am interested. I could buy a new/used one, in which case I am open to suggestions on what is on the market. Trying to keep it under $200, the lower the better but I want something solid.
Or, if our resident master tinkrar wants to give me an estimate on something ....
Anyway, what is out there? I need ideas. I am out of school, and music is becoming my sole creative outlet. I also want to do some recording for some stuff I have wanted to work on, and I am doing a major gear overhaul to suit my needs.

Bitches love them some tap tempo, eh?
That is one element that makes DIY builds more expensive, and commercial builds somewhat more scarce.
The cheepo with it would be the Line6 Tonecore one. Did tor have one of those? Or was it the trem he has/had?
Another one that is said to be quite nice is the TC Electronics Flashback, not bad on price either. It doesn't have tap tempo, but rather a strum tempo(watch TC's video demos of it, they show how it works).
There are a bunch of more expensive ones too, The EH Memory Boy, Akai Headrush, and then the whole next tier of $300+ ones like the Timefactor and Boomerang.

Yeah the Flashback is my number one option so far me thinks. It has all sorts of add options I don't need, but they will help me get the sound I want, then chances are I will leave them untouched. The TC strum tempo seems awesome, and if it works properly it would be a superior choice to a footswitch.

Ah, i just saw that you wanted to keep it sub-$200. I would say Echo Park, Flashback, or Deluxe Memory Boy, in ascending price-ish order.

Re: Delay and what I want to use it for
This will generally be the case for anything with tap tempo innit. A simpler interface DIY one could be jiggered, but there almost isn't really a point to doing it, with what is available and for how little $$, in the general commercial world.

I have both tap tonecores, the trem and the echo park. Matter of fact I had the Echo Park up for sale on TGP, I just don't use the tap tempo. I love my carbon copy. Dev you wanna borrow it?

How much were you looking to get for it, before I take you up on a test drive? Feel free to PM me about it.

Re: Delay and what I want to use it for
Line 6 makes a good delay, always have. For a basic delay with tap tempo and a few tonal options, I think it's a good choice.
