So I finally got around to make a pair of cables to put my delay through my map'z effects loop, but when I switch to the effects loop I get a noticeable volume drop. I put a small cable from the send to the receive and there was no problem, but with the delay connected (on or off) I get a volume drop.... very counter productive as the delay only really gets used for leads. Boss DD-6 powered by the same onespot that powers the rest of my pedals. Could that cause the problem? Would making it a parallel loop solve the problem? To make it parallel I would just have to connect the send to the return from inside the amp? |

Hmm. I don't know the DD-6, but it is possible that the pedal itself has a volume drop? It may also be an input/output impedance issue. Maybe the map's loop is set up for rack fx, not pedal signals? If it was me, i would probably just build a simple clean boost and put it in the loop after the delay... A lot cheaper and quicker than changing the way the loop is configured internally...

The effects loop has a selector switch for -10db, 0db and +4db for the effects loop and switching it around doesn't make any difference. I might open the amp later see if anything is loose and hit it with compressed air see if that fixes anything. A DIY small clean boost does sound like a better and more usable solution. |

gat dammit... it was a fucking cable problem, apparently the cables i made for the effects loop are WAY quieter then a normal cable  lesson learned... don't use noname cables

I have some cheap cables floating around here that're extra quiet and have a top-end roll off to them. Kind of like having the volume and tone on your guitar on half. They're pretty cool for cleaner sounds because they give you a jazzy kind of tone, but totally useless for anything but that. Believe it or not, the best sounding cable I have is a First Act 30 footer. |
