Played a couple of stomps in the past few days.
First up was a Fulltone GT-500. I don't have much to say other than . Thing was extra pretty sounding. OD > DS is the way to go... it makes a pretty epic fuzz sound when you run it heavily distorted into a slightly distorted amp. Boss GT-10. Thing sounded pretty nice actually... the more metal presets had an uber tight low end and a really percussive chunky palm mute sound to them, ala Exodus' Live at Wacken DVD, but more digital sounding. Beats the shit out of anything similar on the market, for sure. The FX themselves were certainly usable, and the delay was actually quite nice; I usually hate delay. I may buy one for the FX alone. And lastly: Fulltone OCD. Basically the OD side of the GT-500 but with a little more dirt. Pretty Marshally... kind of has a Plexi vibe at times. Really creamy and smooth.

I've wondered about the Gt-500. I love my OCD, it's the one that always seems to stay on my board.

The OCD is niceynice. It stays on my board as well.
I'm currently running it after a Fulldrive as a solo boost; we'll see how that goes.

I ran the OD side of the GT-500 into my Twin for rawk rhythms, and hit the distortion side for leads. Mind you, the Twin was at it's maximum of slightly distorted at the time. I'm going to buy an OCD specifically to use as an overdrive for teh rawks. Since I'm now in a classic rock cover band, and I don't have anything other than the Twin that covers that realm very well... it shall come in handy. Try playing Honky Tonk Women through the Crunch channel on a JSX or XXX.

Thrashtastic! The OCD should serve you well. That into the Twin will get you as gainy as you'll need. Hit it with your Tubescreamer thing if you need a solo boost. It's also pretty awesome on bass guitar.

you doing honky tonk in open tuning or just going for it in standard? I've done both and if I'm just sitting in in my friends band I don't open tune, as it's usually on the fly. Fuck that's an old tune but chicks really dig that tune live. fuck you think they would be sick of it by now

I tune my Gibson to open tuning for it... the Ibanez stays in standard for the rest of the songs. Chicks do dig that song... they also dig the fuck out of Gimme Three Steps. Must be the stuttery thing... It's weird how I'm a total amateur lead player, and I'm now playing lead guitar in a cover band. Most of the solos are easy as shit, though...

Oh yes, I used to do that one as well, and yes girls love dancing to that shit, lotsa blooze riffs in those. EDIT: I found this we used Gimme as a section of a demo for playing out a few bands back... basically recorded live, one take. http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8321420

Nice little clip... I usually finger pick the lead parts, though. Gives it the stuttery sound the original had. Terribly, yes.

we split the leads on that, I would actually have to listen all the way through to figure out which one I did. That was done about 3-4 years ago I believe.
