Looks pretty hot. Is definitely hot shit amongst studio usage for overheads and whatnot.

What are you looking for, a pair for drum overheads?

Also, what do you currently have in the way of SDC sorts of mics?

Been too long since I've run into 'em to comment specifically from memory. These or Rode NT5s would be your decently-priced SDC options still, I think. Or the Oktava MC012s. (IMO, not as good as they're made out to be. Could just be me, but I like the NT5s way better than the Oktavas, having used both extensively.) The Shures being the most expensive of the three. I don't think either of the three would do you wrong; the Shures would probably look better on a gear list though and that in itself might justify the extra hunner'd buxxx or so for 'em.

One of those things that's probably not the wrong answer for whatever you'd use an SDC for. (overheads, acoustic guitar, piano, snare drum, etc.)

Audio-Technica probably makes a good SDC too that would do well by you, I forget the model numbers, before you hit the price range of boutique brands or things with German names.

Do you have a store nearby where you can demo some stuff?

Well, the girlfriend's dad has them as the mic portion of his classical guitar recording rig. It seems I have the option of borrowing them sometime in the future, probably as overheads or room. I heard what they did with his guitar, sounded fantastic.

Currently I do not own any SDC or LDCs, all I have is the AT2020s which have a capsule size somewhere between the two, and I put that shit on everything because it's all I've got.

Borrow them and put them up as yer overheads, then. And post clips, of course. They should not, I think, do you wrong. That's the one scenario I've encountered them in, but it's been some years.

Ah! For a free option, you should definitely be all over that.

I was going to say that if you were thinking buying new, there are other options for less moneys.

But they are a pretty topshelf microphone, and definitely worth making free use of if free use is available. :isay:

They've also acquired the Really Nice Preamp now. I've got to say, it does make things sound nice, in a slightly compressed softened highs kind of way.

I would like to borrow that too. :dastardly:
