OK Other is Cakewalk but not Sonar, the old shit, but rarely use that anymore, I've moved to Reaper, use Cakewalk to do some old shit....

Reaper just keeps getting better, and i was fine with how it was two years ago. :red:

The entire install file for the 64bit version is like 6MB. It can be installed on a fucking flashdrive, actually it was designed to be able to.

How the fuck they managed to program it to be able to do what it does, as quickly and CPU-lightly as it does, i cannot even imagine. It is soooo by far the best DAW software thing i have ever met. A big part of that is certainly that it just very conveniently does and arranges everything in the way that i want it to be done and arranged. Now if only i could fix my life to the point that i could afford to give the doods the measly $60 they want for doing it, that would be swell. :red:

Reaper seems to be a really well-thought out piece of kit that does a lot efficiently and is really user-configurable?

I switched to Logic from PT a few years back 'cause the MIDI functionality in PTLE tongued the bung, as it were; I was actually running an old Opcode sequencer on an OS 9 machine to do all my MIDI work. I barely touch PT when I've been at ze big studio, it's just a tape machine to me. Maybe write some automation data, that's it. Oh, and hit the transport controls. So I don't count it; I've forgotten most of the key commands even. I would like to get back up to speed with it though so I could quit my day job...

I decided the other day I- on my list of things to do after the Garda record- want to make a record to use all my Sabbath-worship stoner riffs, probably under the name "The Joint Chiefs" for amusement purposes as chances are it'll be three guys who don't smoke pot playing on it. I'm thinking "Hemplord" for a title? That is 16 track tape, straight up- anything else would be wrong- at which point I will add "Analog motherfucking tape" to my list where it belongs.

y'know-- I started with Reaper (endless thanks to chris_d!), and I'm totally of the opine that it's only gotten better as well. j'heart reaper 4 SO much, and now that they've added split panning... my god. i would think it were perfect if i had a gigantic screen with full channel strips on it for each input.. :D but they haven't gotten there yet. do they make a 4x8 foot monitor?

but seriously-- every time i see other people dealing with pokey interfaces-- i'm pretty thankful that reaper is what it is, and it's such a graceful performer. the price is just icing on the cake, really-- it's a great program. the only thing that makes me a little batty is the twiddly little buttons in the routing matrix that i somehow manage to turn off.. but that's a minor beef.

I heard Phil Collins was quite the gentleman with the Reverb though.
