christ.

if you haven't heard this record, and you play with microphones... you kinda need to listen to this.

vocals that encapsulate all that is good in recording. no shit. creepy.

freaking great music, and genius engineering. makes sense-- guy who did pj harvey and sparklehorse had his hands in it-- john parish.

found this about an hour back and already played the record twice... not often than happens.

Ha, aside form the compression/verb on the drums, to me that actually sounds a little like you recorded it, Dan.

I like that drum sound, kick way back, toms not too bassy or boomy, really low tuned snare, really subdued bass guitar. Pretty much everything different than how i tend to do things myself, but it is a well balanced thing, and a good sound. Nice control over the low ends of things.

It is more difficult than it seems like it would be, to have the drums and vocals so forward without fully losing the guitars and bass.

chris, yer WAY too kind.. but honest to god-- the vocal recording on this is SO good, i seriously thought someone was playing in my house. i WISH i could pull that trick off... you can listen to the record online-- bust out your best cans or speakers and check it out.. i would LOVE to find out what the vocal chain is.. and spend the rest of my life trying to pay for it :D

Okay, this will be acquired and played on the Adams tomorrow before rehearsal. I don't want to ruin my first impression. ('cause my other stuff is like, so inferior? ) But if you tell me I should be amazed, I want to be amazed. And Ms. Harvey and Mr. Linkous (RIP) have good sounding records.
