Yargh, I am thinking I will be getting my money's worth even if nothing but the MXLs and the 200s please my ears. I will be essentially completing a full mic setup where I own all of the mics myself, so I can't complain.

Here's a Gearslutz thread on the 200-series multi-element mics. Note what they're comparing them against sonically... 421s, RE20s, Shure Betas, etc. They seem to be well-regarded.

Both of those and the D1200, in working order, should be worth a fair bit, too. Over $100 a piece.

I suppose it depends on how they've been treated over the years- they are older, and I guess the dual-element thing is fragile. I don't know if the 200s are any more or less sturdy than the others. (I'd also assume people with broken ones are more likely to come out of the woodwork, same as there's a bad review of something for every ton of them that work fine.) Assuming both elements work, they seem like a steal.

Stuff that saw a lot of live sound use over the years is a lot more likely to be fucked up than something that hung out in a studio or even someone's band room- exposed to random dumbasses on a regular basis. The only one from the pictures that looks beat on visually is the obvious vocal dynamic with the finish worn off. Granted the others are silver so it's hard to tell.

People also seem to talk about only one half of the pickup element failing, so it might work but sound real thin or dull. But I shall hope that they work in fine condition.

If that were the case they'd still make a dandy effect mic.
