The Wood Room and Symphonic patches on the Yamaha are pretty well-known (Andy Wallace is/was fond of the Symphonic patch on bass, of all things, to make it really big and wide. Odd, that someone would stereo-ize the bass, but...) as are some of the others; I want to say Big Snare but I'd have to go back and have a listen. Recognizable early '90s snare drum sound to be had out of an SPX 90/990.

If the Eventide has Micro Pitch Shift (I have an impulse of this kicking about), that's another recognizable "known" sound off a million records. Glossy pop lead vocal, right there.

Though it's not in this collection, the AMS RMX16 on the NonLin2 setting is another recognizable drum 'verb.

Personally, I've developed a bit of a renewed interest in artificial 'verb as of late. Esepcially used subtly on snare and toms, and on rawk guitars blended with a room mic track.

I wish I knew more about those units so I'd know which ones I want. Thanks for the downloads Snaxo. :huzzah:

Play around with 'em and see which you like. It's all "classic" stuff. The TC 6000 and Bricasti are still in production and cost the proverbial arm-and-a-leg. SPX 990 is total early '90s and you can find them cheap now; probably the most inexpensive of the whole lot new- this was all high-end shit. It's all good gear, with different flavors. The Quantec's specialty is room sounds. Eventide is, well, Eventide. Lexicon and TC have different flavors.

Just load up a track and browse, really. Bricasti Studio B Close is one of my fave-o-rite things on electric guitars.

Well at the mention of my favourite decade I went and got to Yamaha one.

Darn, those are some nice sounds. The drum room impulse I've been using was kind of small and nasty sounding, like an optimized version of the basement I actually record in (and it's called 'nice drum room'), while from that collection I just downloaded I used a huge sounding impulse on these Roland TD30 drums now which is really helping the slam drums sound extra redonkulous.

Glad to be of service. :isay: While it's not going to behave 100% like the hardware, you're getting pretty close to a lot of nice gear for the low, low price of Jack and Squat.

If someone asked me "what would your first choice be if you needed a reverb for '90s metal drum sounds?", Yamaha SPX-90 would be the answer. :nods:

I think I went with that wood room one, and yeah... it sounds like the reverb on Therion's mid-career drum sounds.
