Surely some of you have been bombarded with ads for this thing. 29$ for the plugin for a limited time.

I usually go with cheaper plugins because sound is just sound and I'm too ignorant to know what's great about an SSL channel strip anyway. But the price was cheap enough this time that I thought I'd give it a shot.

Anyone else?

I tend to go with the G Channel because I've used an actual G-series SSL a few times. But they're different flavors of the same thing; primary difference is the EQ, and that's a matter of taste. General purpose channel strip with low CPU usage. Tweaky EQ. Compressor and gate are worth your time, 'specially on drums. The EQ is a scalpel, rather than something like the Waves API 550B or Plugin Alliance Maag EQ4, which are broadswords exclusively. Add your console input (Waves NLS or Slate VCC) or tape sim plugin of preference and load up the E-channel on everything. Seriously.

In short: it's versatile. You can tweak the routing order. You can get fiddly with the EQ, or make broad, bold moves. Has some character to it. It doesn't suck.

By the by, Slate's everything bundle subscription service is now down to fifteen bucks a month, for those interested. :D That's a lot of damn good plugins for the price of a few coffees.
