I had this great book on the Beatles recording sessions, in which John wanted to find a way to DI his vox. He also wanted to hang upside down, and spin around the mic, I think leslie style, while tracking. At that point it is a good time to stoptaking any more drugs . for at least 15 minutes.

I will add that book was one of the best books I've read. I htink it is this one, I have it somewhere..

The book was really cool, it's was very cool from an engineering standpoint, explaining how they made some real classic albums with 2 and 4 tracks. very cool stuff.

How I record vox:

Audiz OM2 > Alesis 2-Track > Computer

:red:

I wish I was joking

But, I am looking into one of those fancy-pants Focusrite Saffire interfaces with the built-in preamps :D

Then THAT is how I will record vox.

So the singer from my band got engaged to a girl from New Zealand and is moving this November.

You sound like you'd make a fine replacement. :rawk:

There's a few of us who have such things, and we've all been pleased with them as far as I can tell. :nods: Good pres and converters; clean. I have one, Geoff has one, Dan (newholland) who isn't even on New Maps has one, I forget who else. Forumites who obviously have zero recording chops make shit-ass recordings with them.

No, seriously, they're nice. The only other thing I'd consider in that price range would be the new Mackie Onyx Blackbird, for the sole reason the pres have a good reputation. I've not heard it though, mostly 'cause I don't think it's out yet. ;) Granted, you could pick up an Apogee Duet for the money, which is really slick, but also only two channels and I think they're Mac-only?

The Focusrites are delivering the goods for a bunch of us.

Also, thank you tor. :isay:
