None of you go on recording, so listen to my Tremoverb
Had a couple of more minutes to spare this afternoon and decided to throw another quickie together. Never thought I'd like a recto, in my life. http://www.netmusicians.org/index.php?section=id&value=7732

Oh yeah... I forgot to revisit the thread after I saw it on my laptop. Sounds pretty good.

Hint: Rectos aren't the one-trick scooped-chug pony their reputation indicates. Orange/Vintage = .

I play in modern channel but with the gain really low. It's such a tight fucking amplifier.

Shocking, ain't it? Yeah, you can make it a loose wall of murky fuzz if you want... But the controls actually do something, and contrary to... everyone on Andy Sneap's forum , it actually does a cool heavy tone without a boost. Lotsa toans in that box. If you're really feeling nuts, turn the treble down all the way and use the presence control to dial brightness back in. It changes the mid voicing, and from my experience with Recto-flavored toan stax, should actually be brighter- albeit voiced differently- than having the treble below 10:00 or so.

The harmonic vocalization sucks caulk . Its not you, its the amp. Your jvm sounded better imo.
And yes, we all navigate every single forum here.

I run this thing with gain at 1 o clock and it's still tight as fuck. I'm going to try that out. Is it true that Mesa's have no trim pots for bias adjustment?

Re: None of you go on recording, so listen to my Tremoverb
No, it is me. I learned the song a few minutes before I started recording and I'm pretty much only familiar with a few pinch harmonics on the fretboard. It's definitely my slop.

That's true. Randall Smith wants to sell you his rebranded t00bs. They're generally biased damn cold, too. I've heard a few people like to run 6L6s on the EL34 setting to run them a bit hotter, FWIW. But don't say I told you that, or you'll void your decade out-of-date warranty.

What's your stance on 6L6 vs EL34 in the amp?

Re: None of you go on recording, so listen to my Tremoverb
Woew. Very nice ToS. I've never been a Mesa guy, but it might not be a bad idea to have one on the aresenal, especially after hearing your clip. I've played one only at a limited time when a co-guitarist had one, and he was much of a "let me twiddly twiddlty yer knobs while I check out yer map" kinda guy. So I only got familiamr with the typical Mesa tone... chug chug chug.
nice track.

I mostly post from work where I don't have sound. Still even if I do read a thread/listen to a clip, that does not mean I will post a reply/comment.

Re: None of you go on recording, so listen to my Tremoverb
I prefer 34s in general, so I'm probably a bit biased. But I do feel like they clear up the murky low mids inherent in Rectos- and Mesa stuff in general. I liked 'em in my Mark IV, too. Mesa stuff has such huge lows going on that anything to counteract that and add a bit more clarity seems like a plus to me. And the 34 upper mid "zing" thing, while not turning a Mesa into a Marshall, does really add something, especially on modes other than Modern. Also, I envy anyone who can get Red/Modern to sound cool, 'cause I've always fought with it. It sounds good in other people's hands (sometimes, on occasion). Just... not mine.

I record lots, I just don't post much of it. I've been second guessing myself a lot lately.
