I mean it when I say a shitload... if it were in ones they would've had to take it from my house in a pickup. :hypno:

Am I stupid? Of course. If I actually bought shit occasionally, I wouldn't get the urge to dump truckloads of money on shit like this. But, I'm not broke or anything, and my mixes should improve greatly because I actually have enough plugins to cover every situation... and there's some NICE shit in there.

It's a good thing I don't have to rationalize.

But, I shall. I'm strongly considering taking the production thing semi-professional. There's no studio in West Virginia that specializes in metal, and there's no studio around here capable of a halfway decent mix when it comes to the heavy stuff. So, I'm basically filling a huge gaping hole in the local production industry. Or so I think. There's a pretty good chance it won't go anywhere. But I digress.

Have you ever used any of the Waves stuff before?

What is the rest of your recording setup?

Holy titties man, that's a lot of coin!

By all means take it up a notch, do the recordist thing. You should probably get some mileage recording other instruments if you do though, the drums bass and vox. Get familiar with all the modern tricks people use to make drums sound the way they tend to (triggering/sound replacement, ridiculous editing) and such if you haven't yet. :azn: The guitar aspect we all know you have down...

Yes, I have. I'm rather fond of all of it. :D

SM57, E609, R121, and an NT-5. I expect to buy a bunch more mics in the next 2 weeks. My "control booth", so to speak, is a rather large semi-rectangle that I have fully deadened and have bass traps in every corner. I have pretty much all the guitar gear I'll ever need, and if the need should arise, I'm more than happy to buy new gear.

I record guitars in a separate room from the deadened room, which is a hallway shaped room that is only partially deadened, and I'm getting pretty good results from that.

I've recorded real drums a few times and got passable results, although I never had the time I wanted to actually tweak mic positions and such.

I've recorded real bass a ton of times, and have a general chain to use for such occasions. Of course, the actual settings vary.

I'd count all the plugins included in that pack but I can't count that high.

Good goddamn. :hypno:

Not what I would have dropped $8k on re: recording gear (I'd have gone mics/pres/hardware), but more fuckin' power to you! If it sounds epic badass, it is epic badass. :nods:
