btw, I've started getting into New Junk Aesthetic a bit more now. I still don't think it's as good as The Big Dirty (which is now probably one of my favourite CDs) but it's not bad at all

Yargh, two pretty different sounding rekkids.
New Junk plays with a lot more pop-punk type melodies and shit than The Big Dirty which is pure southern rock swagger.

hmm, yes. The older albums are more angry and fast, not as tuneful. The Big Dirty balances them nicely. I really need to see them live, I imagine it would be awesome.

Yeah, but I also have really grown to love Last Night In Town the last couple of days.
It's definitely rough in terms of production on some things, vocals, cliche lyrics and melodies etc.
You can hear that they are a very young band, but there are elements showing in my eyes that they would grow into very much "my kind of band".

I think you guys get the point. Opeth trip from hell for the past 2 weeks.

you know I have no records of Opeth, and I love listening to them when they are brought up here or on XM radio. I must acquire some of this.

The three I just posted are as good a start as any... in fact, just acquire all their albums. They're all exceptional.

Opeth is brilliant. Get all the records, yes. Anything from Still Life on is a masterpiece. I should mention, if you're not aware, Damnation is a genuinely beautiful record that has nothing to do with metal at all. Ghost Reveries and Watershed might be worth it for the production values alone. (They are also awesome records, which helps a little.) They are shockingly accessible for something that's often characterized as "progressive death metal" and whose songs frequently pass the ten minute mark. They are generally devoid of both artrock and metaller pretensions; that's just the noise they happen to make is all. Also, a really good live band; I go see them when they pass through me area. It should be mentioned from a guitargeek perspective that Mikael Åkerfeldt is a really tasteful soloist. But I digress.
