These are for home use exclusively, so the excessive bleed is not an issue. The whole planet seems to tell me these are the best sounding 'phones I will find circa a hunner'd buxx and probably better than shizzle costing a fair bit more. I am used to Sennheiser HD280Pros (as are a few of you), AKG K240 Mk IIs and Etymotic Research ER6is. I knoe a respectable headphone when I hear it much like that Supreme Court Justice knew obscenity when he saw it. Try/Abort/Fail?

They are not for tracking drums. They are for sounding detailed and lovely, which is what they're s'poda do.

I feel like one can never have too many pairs of headphones.

If you can afford 'em, why not?

I am not positive, but i think those are the same ones my brother in law has. He likes his an awful lot. They are definitely loud as shit secondhand, but if you don't share a room with someone, it is not really a problem.

I liked 'em when I put 'em on. Much more open and airy sounding than the HD280pros. Not as eardrum shatteringly loud, though. Very detailed and a bit on the crispy side, for better or for worse. You can definitely tell whose guitar tone is fizzy on SR80s.

I'm not going to say yes OR no, I'm going to say clamp them to your head and see what YOU think.

Well I really like my SR80s (I don't know how they differ from the "i" version) - not too much bass like some headphones can have, and as mr metal above says they are very detailed. My only complaints are that the foamy pads I have aren't that comfortable for really long listening sessions, and mine seem to have ever so slightly gone biased to the left side which is odd. I think the foam on those looks nicer than what I've got.

I plan on investing headphones soon, so now that these have been mentioned they've caught my attention. I planned on getting the 280s (I have some experience with them because I recommended them to my buddy who ended up buying them).

Absolutely fucking retarded detail, being able to hear the actual kick behind the trigger FTW, and super tight bass response.
I actually enjoy waging sonic warfare on people around me though, so maybe the SR80i would not be a bad choice either..?

There's a classy stereo place along ze train route, and a nice little guitar store in the area as well. I may take a trip down there after work; they are a Grado dealer.

A/B-ed 'em against the Sennheisers. They win for clarity, depth and soundstage. The fully open design makes 'em sound less like headphones and more like speakers. The Sennheisers would still be better for tracking for the obvious reason. (Massive isolation.) I acquired them and brought them home. :nods:

Why thank ye! I'm using 'em to do my automation on Mike's track right now. :nods: Lotsa panning fun on the vocal layers and guitar leads. I buffed up his drums with my own samples, too. :snax:
