Yeah, a moat would be cake, like two days with a rented backhoe, max.
I would also brick up all those windows, asap, and just leave slits for shooting and dumping boiling oil from.
But otherwise, that is a totally serviceable fortification
It is truly a shame when folks be throwing out a perfectly decent castle.
I can think of no better way to lord your riches over the poor folk, then building a castle in Detroit.

Seriously. A damn shame. I like the alcove above the door, with the columns. That's as fine a place as any to put, say, a cannon, or something belt-fed. Like, maybe, an automatic grenade launcher:
