We have a few mulberry trees in the yard here. The berries ripen, and then fall and roast/ferment on the driveway. All the critters come by and basically huff them, getting wrecked in the process.

Motherfucker just tried to run UP the window. Four times. Then it jumped and half-missed the branch it was aiming for, winding up spinning around and hanging on like a monkey. The branch was only about ten inches away.

WTF am I doing still up at 7 AM? At least I pretty well finished Mike's mix last night, save for remembering I need to drop in some vocalbits at the end wherein the files got fuctup. Having Logic roll up on 8 cores (I kept hyperthreading on; I have heard Logic runs more efficiently with it off, but I am the wrong kind of nerd for this to make sense to as to why.) and not having it tell me "fuckoff!" is glorious. Waves Master Tape and SSL G Channel on all tracks; I think I'm using 15 buses, so basically the virtual equivalent of a pair of 24-track tape machines and a 40+ channel 16+ bus SSL, and running all my effects off it besides... Honestly, having a native system that manly is a qualitative game-changer. Devil = in the details/always had the best tunes.

Going through the presets for the tape wossname to see what it'll do, I've found some of 'em almost counterintuitive; printing to tape that hot would give you less noise, and that was sorta the point, so they're not always a good starting point. Best to just turn it on and tweak the speed or how hard you're pushing the input/playback, mostly; everything else is an effect.

That being said, any of the Waves modeling stuff, I leave the analog noise on, always. It's insignificant at best (I suppose 40 tracks of cranked-up tape hiss, as you can adjust the level for that and turn it up as per the aforementioned, is a bit much) I feel it helps create the sense of space between things versus straight-up digital nothingness.

I suppose it's existential angst keeping me up ATM. Eff that. 'night.

In regards to the album Modern Music....

I'm going to start this with saying, the song Druganaut is awesome. However, every other fucking song on this goddamn album that i paid 22$ for SUCKS A BIG BAG OF DICKS. To say it simply, they overstay their welcome in my stereo. Each song goes on forever, way beyond what it should and they're all inundated with saxophone squeaks. Its just like. fuck man. You're boring me and ruining my ears at the same time. Druganaut is great though, just perfect. The rest i find myself skipping through after the last chorus where it SHOULD end instead of putting in a long as saxophone squeak and drumjam. I guess it would be better if the drums were better, but they're Meg White complex. =/=/=/

Yeah, i remember that about Black Mountain. There are a lot of bands out there that would really benefit if someone came by and forced them to make all of their songs half or a quarter as long. Get their shit focused on what is good.

This is not a day that needs to continue in any way, shape or form. Hell really is other people, and I am far too kind to them. Really, I just need to be put away in my hole and ignored. It seems the majority of the people I wind up "talking to" (read: being talked at by) hit me with their endless monologues, which may or may not be the exact same thing I've heard from them every other time I've heard from them, because I am Too Nice To Tell Them To STFU/GTFO and thus they deprive me of precious minutes or hours that I could use to do things like eat, sleep, use the facilities, or generally carry on with my life. This is why I do not go out clubbing anymore, this is why I by choice have very few actual friends, etc. I do not have a personal life anymore because I do not want one; I fail at it, and accept this knowingly. I exist for geekery. This also means that I am sick unto death of being a good listener and do not want to hear about the sorriness that is yours, especially if I only vaguely know of your existence because I've seen you somewhere a bunch of times and that's it.
