To clarify, The Jesus Lizard is its own thing, unrelated to Slint and the Spiderland record save for people mistakenly think Steve Albini worked on Spiderland, which he did not. The Jesus Lizard is a rather cranky sounding band with a bunch of records. Their last two were mixed by Joe Baressi, with their previous work by Mr. Albini, which basically means their rhythm section sounds like God His Own Self.

I am unable to sleep for more than four hours at a time, it seems. I slept from c. 8:30-12:30ish tonight after a week (Friday to Friday) in which I managed to sleep for a whopping 22 goddamn hours or so all-told. FML. Also, I want to make spiced roasted potatoes for some reason. I think, because I want to eat foods, but they do take a while to create. On to another Classic Albums episode for a band I'm indifferent to I guess; maybe Def Leppard?

But Modest Mouse might be my favorite band. It's too early to say, but good godmotherfuckingdamn. Isaac Brock is a genius.

I know one Modest Mouse song, from the radio in 2005, and consequentially I have never taken them seriously. Change my mind!

The first song is to give you an idea of what old MM sounds like (probably my favorite track of theirs) and the second to show you where they're headed now (this being my favorite new-er track).

Expect awesome, quirky indie rock guitar work and songwriting in the first song and you will not be disappointed.
Expect something incredibly different, grandiose and fucking weird in the second and you will not be disappointed.

I don't really like a lot of Modest Mouse stuff, it's kinda boring to me. The new ones with Johnny Marr are good though, they're a lot livelier.

Getting places with the amp build. Made a few errors which have been fixed now.

Funny thing is, We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank (the album with the most Marr input and playing) is my least favorite album by them probably. It's really cool being able to hear Brock doing his thing on one side and Marr on the other (and being able to stylistically tell who's who) but the songs are just not happening, IMO.

Its really not that bad... You buy a properly constructed house and you could quite happily sit threw Katrina and watch shit fly around for a couple hours... Best part is while you are in the eye of the storm you can go around the neighborhood and inspect preliminary damage.

outside party/gig yesterday, in the sun which for vampire like myself 'tis not great, but I did not disintegrate. On the plus side free booze. Also while I am not a sweet drink type gal, I did have Whipped Cream vodka in an orange soda which someone made for me. Like a creamsicle and quite strong when you can't taste any alcohol. I had one then went on to more tor like drinking.

I'll occasionally have something sweet myself if it's offered to me. Chick drinks or lighter fluid. Either works. I've been on a sweet red wine kick lately, because I've been working on recordings. That = inexpensive sweet regionally produced wines, I don't know why.

Re: stuff where you don't taste the alcohol- rum + pineapple juice. The acidity of the pineapple juice is great enough to mask the boozeahol. This is potentially dangerous stuff.
