Post Motherfuckers: Some things that (still)need to go elsewhere.
Need to get rid of this biz once and for all. Prices downd, added Microkorg. If my prices seem high to you, let me know. Between you and me, i am broke enough to drop them a little if it means that something will sell.

Prices are shipped CONUS.

All three are in very good condition with pretty light usage. Aside from the marks left by the rack screws on a couple, they basically look new. I have all the original boxes/packaging and manuals as well as all of their power supplies and whatnot.

1. Electrix Warp Factory. $SOLD. A very cool and flexible vocoder. You can get all kinds of interesting stuff out of it due to its input and formant flexibility.

2. Electrix Mo-FX - $150. Distortion, Flange, Tremolo, Delay. Time synced with tap tempo. Some pretty great sounding effects with a bunch of cool features.

3. Electrix EQ-Killer - $70. Simple but flexible halfwidth rack sized notch filter EQ with three separate selectable bands. I liked it for tuning noise stuff, but it has myriad uses. Just a good simple but flexible tool.

All three are designed to either be mounted in a rack(as i used them) or alternately as desktop units(they have rubber "foot pads" under them).

I actually really love these things, but i just haven't been using them enough in the last few years to justify keeping them here.

They look like this:

Image

ALSO:

4. Korg MicroKorg - $SOLD. Errybody knows what it is. It doesn't make financial sense for me to retain it, being that it is one of the few things i own that could be sold. :red: It is in very good shape with its powersupply, microphone, manual, and (slightly dented)original box .

Looks like this, though this is just a stock photo, obviously:

Image

I will take a real pictar of it in a bit if anyone wants it.

It is halfwide. They had a few halfwide ones, that came with a joining plate that you could bolt two of them up in the middle to make one full width piece.

like dis:
Image

I have that one other halfwidth one that i used to make the full rack width on my rack, but i am going to try not to sell it yet.

But because they are also designed to be used alternately as desktop gear, it works a little better outside of a rack if you only have one, than if it was just a standard rack gear shape. Used as a desktop unit, it leans back a bit(like you can see in the other pictures) and makes it more comfortable to use the controls.

How is the bypass on the Warp Factory switchable? I see you can bypass it on the front panel, but can it be footswitched or bypassed via MIDI as well? And what kind of I/O does it have. We need a good vocoder for live use.

There is a footswitch jack on the back, though i never used it. I/O is pretty great. For a relatively simple vocoder, it is pretty robustly featured.

Actually, the manual is available online if you want to take a gander: http://thesnowfields.com/manuals/warpfactoryuserman.pdf

I also found that it lent itself quite well to non-vocoding "misuse". With the flexibility of the input and formant source options, you can really do some odd shit with it. Honestly, i would just keep it if i didn't need the money for it, because i don't feel that i have adequately made use of its charms on anything yet. It has just been like a powerful tool that has just been waiting for me to need it to fuck some sounds up, and i haven't needed/used it to do so yet. Kind of sad, really.

I've got a semi for these items, but I have never used outboard stuff for my sounds before and don't know if I'm going to...?

Yar. That is what they have turned into for me as well.

If they do sell, i have a strong feeling that in the future, i am going to regret letting them go. Because, they are serious awesome as fuck. And Electrix stopped making them to switch to more digital sorts of FX, and i don't even know if they are doing THOSE anymore these days. So the prices actually seem to be climbing somewhat. Which means that rebuying them later on might end up sucking.

But as it stands right now, my setup does not incorporate the outboard stuff well enough for me to use them very often. In the future, with a more standard recorder/studio setup, i could see using them all the fucking time. But the reality of the last couple years is that it is too fiddly to patch them into my ghettosetup, so they just aren't getting used.

Add to that, the fact that they are some of the only gear i own that is: 1. sellable, and 2. worth anything, and the fact that i am so stupidly broke that the situation has not been even slightly amusing these last couple months, and the gear simply must go.

This seems nice. I will pass this on to the relevant authorities. I suspect my bass player might want this. One of us may acquire this device.

OH. ALSO.

I have an Agile Harm III here that has seen better days that could go away if someone wanted it.

It is kind of fucked up looking, but plays fine. Started out like this:

http://www.rondomusic.com/harm3hc.html

But i decided one day to strip the paint off to refinish it. I got as far as stripping the paint off, which also beat up the binding on the neck a little, then i kind of abandoned the project for lack of funds.

The binding isn't pretty but it doesn't affect how the guitar plays. Ideally, i would rebind the neck, and repaint the guitar, and sell it for $300-ish. But realistically, i think we can safely say that that is never going to happen now.

In its current state, $200 shipped might be more like it.

Looks like this at the moment, but with the wiring and string back in/on:

Image

It is not bare wood exactly, but rather i stripped it down to the sanding sealer. Which is good because without that, it would have a lot more problems with humidity and climate changes.

If anyone is interested i can try to take some shots showing the fucked up bits of the binding, and hopefully, my camera will play along and be able to take in-focus pictars(about a 50/50 shot with this camera - it is ornery. ).

The vocoder has been nagging at me lately, telling me to buy it. Expect a PM about it soon..

Yeah yo, i have pretty much given up on selling any of it. If i need to drop the prices even more to sell the electrix stuff, it becomes something not worth it, and i will just keep it. Even though i would really like it all sold so i could try to update some recording rig bits. I would just try to BIN it on ebay but i don't really have a ebay account, i think i have all of like 2 feedbacks on it?

Cam, the vocoder is kind of a whacky bit of gear. It basically takes two signals and makes atonal noise out of them. Usually it is used for the robot voice sort of effect. For that you would put the microphone in the mic-in, and something like a keyboard in the source-in. The mic/formant basically only captures the aspects of speech that make it intelligible(like mouth shapes and shit), none of the pitch stuff that speech has. So if you hold one key or chord down on the keyboard, all of the speech will sound in whatever keys you press and will be generally monotone and robotic. If you play a tune, then the robot voice will sing it.

That is what it is normally used for these days. I used to plug in whatever tapes i had that had speaking on them and just blast them robot style. Evil Robot Presidential speeches, the Evil Robot Tony Robbins trying to sell his self help tapes, pretty much whatever. The louder the better. This was the period of time in which i exploded two different sets of 12" hi-fi speakers. That was mostly between Evil Robot Speeches and some other pretty violent electronic stuff i was doing back then.

But. It is also capable of some strange shit. This one also has a couple of things that make it nice for this sort of use. Plugging a guitar into it and using the autoformant settings or any one of a number of strange combinations, one can make a lot of terrible noise from sitar-like drones to just terrible metallic clanging atonality. Aside from the hours of Evil Robot Tony Robbins sermons, i generally used it to experiment and make fucked up guitar-based noise.

The problem i have, and why i will probably have the thing forever, is that it is most definitely a specialist thing. Only a relative few nerds are going to have much use for a hardware vocoder these days. Software/VST vocoders are plentiful, and go anywhere from simple hardware emulation, to shinyballs smart style jibjab like autotune and melodyne, which do similar-ish things with different tech.

Most "normal vocoder usage" things are covered by plugins these days, and the oddnoise capabilities of a hardware device, well, most guitarists would probably be more likely to get something else for that instead, like guitar synths and pitchshifters and ringmods and shit. Because the vocoder is tricky to make "do weird", and the devices actually designed for guitar use, are so very much more friendly to get weird things going on with.

My primary use for it would be robot vocals. Basically the Cynic's Focus type sound. I have been mentally bonering at the thought of arranging vocal harmonies for vocoder choirs. I am not even sure how often I would use.. ACTUAL words, rather than say vowels sounds. Oohs and ahs and bullshit.

Posted this at HC, just copypasting it here in the off chance anyone wants some of this crap:

Image

DOD FX68 Super Stereo Chorus - $50
DOD FX25 Envelope Filter - $50
DOD FX575B Flanger - $80?
Digitech Bad Monkey - $40?
BYOC(the older version) delay - $80

I don't actually know what bad monkeys are going for these days. $40 seems about right maybe? Same with the flanger, i couldn't find anything that gave me any idea of what they are worth. If $80 with the adapter is high, let me know. :idk:

The chorus has its battery door, but none of the other three DODs do. All four show signs of rock and roll use.

The flanger is designed for an odd 20v power supply that uses a 1/4" plug. Once upon a time, it had two 9v battery clips inside it, but they were removed at some point, so i have just been using with with a DC adapter. It works on 9v with the correct plug, but sounds much much better with 20v.

I have this generic 20v adapter that i modified for the correct plug that works well enough. The adapter will come with the pedal unless you don't want it:

Image

The delay was built on a BYOC board from the earlier version of their kit. Guts look like this:

Image

The capacitors for the main repeats are socketed. What i have in there right now are values that give brighter, chirpier repeats. I can put the stock darker values in it if you prefer. Alternately you could use a number of items in the loop to darken the repeats however you likee, which is why i have them this way.

Oh yeah, it has an FX loop, which can be bypassed with a toggle switch. When engaged, it has an LED at the jacks that indicates this:

Image

Originally, i built this for myself. The paint is just rattle can hammered stuff. It won't last forever, but it looks okay. :idk:

Prices are all: shipped within the CONUS area. If you live elsewhere, it would likely be a little more.

What was the old BYOC Delay based on? Or was it one of their own designs?
