Yes, some sort of clear front is the correct answer, IMO. Maybe some sort of mesh.

Make the front look like a microwave oven, you could see the tubes glow

Any amp that has a "Brilliance" knob is a good amp.

Nice! Are you going to try to round the edges, or tolex over them as is?

I plan on rounding the edges with sand paper until my patience runs out. Still missing the back panel, chassis support for when I'm removing the chassis, handle, and of course the plexiglass! I'm going to buy wheels for my cab and use its rubber feet for the amp

If you use sandpaper, make sure you use burly stuff, like 60 grit at least, to take as much wood off as possible. Ideally you might want to see if you can score or borrow one of those wood planes that looks like a cheesegrater. Makes it a lot easier when doing that sort of thing by hand.

A router is the quick way if you can borrow one.

But he would have to be mad careful around the countersunk screws, as they would easily destroy a $40+ roundover bit.

Sometimes, i use the handplane/surform just for simplicity, and also for most occasions when i have used screws to hold a joint together(rather than just glue).

The router does a much more consistent clean job though, assuming you don't fuck something up and get a pile of tear-out on a corner, or set it too deep and get a bizarre edge as a result(or tag a nail/screw and chip/destroy the bit).
