http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/ONE_OF_US_11_28.mp3Sorted out the vocal production with some Echoplexing and the heavy guitars a bit. And the drums and everything else. I suppose the intro with the crackling vinyl needs to be more lo-fi? Bridge still needs work. Bass is large and bassful. Fake master; I suppose I'm getting better at that: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/ONE_OF_US_fakemaster_11_28.mp3Okay, I'm holding myself to this, nothing more 'til all is done.

Well, okay, one more hack at this: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13184331/ONE_OF_US_fakemaster3.mp3Also, Yahoo Mail can suck on the ol' D. The band needs to hear this. It's not totally good-perfect, but it is not damn bad against my reference rekkids. Could use some clearing up.

Did you add vinyl record sounds to the very beginning? Definitely a nice mix going on. Maybepossibly a little too much repeat present on the first verse vocal delays, just kind of sticks out a bit more there to me. Other than that, nothing wonky in it that i can hear.

Re: The Garda record takes shape. Watch it grow.
I did just that. I took some samples and cut 'em up. I would like it a little more nasty lo-fi sounding, tried filtering the choir a bit since.
Ideally I'd like a sort of dry-ish in-your-face vocal upfront and the effects off to the sides. There's a few ways to do this which mostly involve automating the effect itself. Lead vocal double (comp'd from alternate takes) is often as not Tubescreaming. It works; you never hear how filthy it is in the mix.
I don't know where to take the thing- I'm half tempted to tamper with the arrangement, but I'll probably wind up saying Kurzweil up slightly*, bring up the ring on the kick and snare- they punch, but die off fast, clearing up some mud in the guitars and vocals and calling it. At least as a "safety" mix. If I can be done with this, I am, done with this.
Except the art. Dammit. I never sorted out the cover.
*I like the pulse of that Prophet, and want it prominent; gives it some drive. But I'm just playing guitar and singing backups here and am not the songwriter at all. If Chris From The Band wants the Kurzweil up 2db, it goes up 2db. Not my call.
