The TR inaugural site is not far from my house. Down a ways, next street over. I had delicious cookies there during a big local summer art festival. It backs up immediately to what used to be Chameleon West, the old Goo Goo Dolls' studio. (I think it's a law firm now?) I have also partied my ass off immediately behind it while they were doing something to the brickwork as there used to be a coincident local music festival* there that I played a few times with the old ladyfronted-gothmetal band. The artist and guest passes were good for both days, so my prior mentioned ex and I would eat all their , drink all their ** and shamelessly see if pretty things would come home with us. So thank you, ol' Ted Roosevelt, for providing rock-and-roll debauchery.

Speaking of Ol' Ted, that reminds me of Harry Turtledove's alternate history novels where he was portrayed as the conservative antagonist to a socialism that never took strong root in IRL America. Good stuff. Historical fiction set in a world where the South won the Civil War and seceded.

We are just a bit from Sagamore Hill (and Sagamore Hill is in my birthtown and family's hometown) so we are super well versed with MR R. So while I was young I was always, well he seems so overdone here on LI but now I realize he is just as bad as Sam Jackson.

We went over the summer to some extravaganza up at S.H. and it was fuckhot. Local celebrity that portrays TR was there and gave a speech from the front lawn with everybody hanging out baking in the sun. He does actually a very good job at the impersonation. I guess.

Last night whilst super stoned and just about to go to bed I told Kaleb (my guitarist/best friend/non-biological brother) that I wasn't going to smoke weed for a week as soon as I finished all the weed I have left. I have been forced to smoke all 3 or so grams by myself via pipe since I woke up. As soon as the self-imposed dry spell begins I am going to buy a laptop and get the recording equipment I have been talking about getting and start recording and elaborating on the material I have stocked up. Which is like, FUCKLOADS. I just gotta get offa da reefer and get my shit in order..

I am generally trying to get my shit all straightened out so I can be optimal, MAXIMO Cameron. It's weird, hearing Ian Mackaye talk about sobriety and his reasoning for being straightedge and whatnot kinda pushed me in a direction that I had already been contemplating. I consider myself something of a drug addict, or at least someone with a growing drug problem. It hinders basically everything that I do, I take shelter in it from depression and other bullshit psychological nonsense. But I've decided I will instead become the greatest motherfucker that ever lived. And that kinda dude typically doesn't smoke weed every waking moment of the day.

Yeah, being sober and getting shit done is sometimes good.

I might put my project guitar off for a while to afford a Squier J Mascis Jazzmaster. It has all the right bits, except for the body is Basswood. I have heard some good things about it from JM snobs though, and I am hoping the big heavy body works well with the Bassmaster. I might get some of the GFS JM pickups to give it a bit more of a traditional JM vibe as a opposed to the closer-to-a-p90 ones in the J. Mascis, but I will wait to hear it before I go that far.

Also, anodized pickguard.

Plus eventually I want a aluminum-wrapped body, so if the basswood does bother me that much I can switch it out .....

Yeah that's cool. It's not like I'm working 24/7 but I'm on mid shifts at the minute which means I don't really have much of a morning or evening to myself, and days off are usually spent biking or maxin' and relaxin' ( ) with friends.

I get this, but with booze. It no longer does anything for me save for making me perpetually out of it. Something in me broke last week, and it's just like, WTF? I'd rather be sober. Like, I, would rather be, sober. There's no euphoria, I can and do drink a liter of liquor a day and be totally lucid, rational and coherent and fine, I just feel shitty and exhausted and baffled trying to get shit done. At this point it's just an addiction and it's not fun anymore. The best I ever felt was being a quasi-straightedge vegan. I on my own just don't have the discipline to take care of myself, I never have. I need a crazy alcoholic drug addict to do it for me. I have no beef wif' drugs and alcohol- they are enjoyable and that's why we consume them. Some of us even keep our shit together whilst intoxicated. We're not inherently bad people. I just wish shit still did something. I have emotional problems and found a fine easily available medication, no embarrassing personal questions, etc. Now I'm just hooked on the stuff and it does not deliver the goods. My ex recommends I smoke pot instead, lulz.

I like how the Maplitonians are slowly going the way of sober.

I also started to consider getting off weed a couple years after high school. I mean don't get me wrong, I still think it's the shit, but it was making it hard for me to socialize, hard for me to keep a clear head enough to do my jobs. And eventually it also started to make me really anxious to the point where I'd physically react to it, and at that point I just stopped completely. Now I actually do have some level of mental acuity, it's pretty gnar! So Mr. Fugazi has a point. I do miss smoking though. The subculture of it is something I miss a good deal.

In terms of going sober... aw, hell naw! Well actually I've drank a lot less due to school. Can't have one and do well with the other. So I could say 'I'm past considering drinking less and have already done it' but really that isn't the case at all, as once this semester ends on Wednesday your boy is getting fucking tanked.

I do drink way more pinot grigio since I stopped smoking.
