I finally bit the bullet and enabled the Ethernet port on the back of my home Hackinbox Octobeast. I've written my laptop off for dead so many times over the past year, I figure I should at least have a functioning- if not the tiniest bit portable- machine for when it finally actually kicks it.

I have to say, it's nice running stuff on something new and fast.

It's also really gigantically massive overkill for checking my mail and reading forums. Spreading Firefox across both displays is fun though.

Spent the evening drawing up the design for the DCCE logo. Thoughts and opinions appreciated.

"Engineering" is a big-ass word to cram to one side like that, and the letter spacing is suffering, IMO.

Viewed from afar, it isn't likely to be terribly pretty or legible. Perhaps a san-serif would be in order, just to clean it up at that kerning.

Otherwise, i might be inclined to run that word across the bottom, full width, and move the other elements around some to suit.

We tried that, running stuff along the bottom and it didnt loom too great. I'll try the san-serif version of the font though!
Its a bugger this graphic design stuff. Printed to the right size it looks okay though.

My designer wife says:

"First of all, the black & white dynamic works great, and the white space between the moons is nice. Like Chris said, you should use a tall sans-serif font so you don't have to stretch the word (http://www.losttypecoop.com and http://www.leagueofmoveabletype.com have great ones). Even out all the spaces around the images and the border; right now, the left and right space between the white border and the edge of the logo are smaller than the space on the top and bottom. It's the little things. Maybe make the moons smaller so there's more breathing room around it and that may solve the "engineering" problem. Best luck to you."

Not only has it stopped me from playing sixteenths, it seems to also have the bonus effect of not allowing me to walk properly. I have stated my complaints with this in order of importance. Good thing I'm not working for a few days.

The leaky shoe is on my right foot, so when I'm outside I'm hobbling with a sideways left foot and walking on the blade of my right to avoid the hole. I look so fucking retarded.
