Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Ah, okay. I wouldn't be too concerned at this point then. She's young, and pet store rats tend to need more- sometimes a lot more- getting acclimated to people than rats from a breeder do. And if your ladyfriend can handle her, that's a good sign. The one thing I'd make note of is since you only have the one, she'll probably need more time outside the cage and interacting, as rats are social creatures. Having an experienced rat handling person around is also a plus. But if she's handle-able, she should come around.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
My uncle had a rat named Poindexter once.
He also kept a racoon for a short period of time.
Story time with grandma can be fun sometimes.

Raccoons are awesome. Urban raccoons are getting fat and lazy due to the kinds of food they find. Kind of like people. Our rat is named Freya.

I've got a craving for a good zombie/survival film. One that shows an awesome dead desolate apocalypse rather than something stupid - I'm currently watching Dawn of The Dead (remake) and it's crap. Might give 28 Days Later another watch

Huh. Apparently I can hack the GUI for Logic. There's a project for when I don't have other projects. (Methinks I'm gonna install 8 on here to do that so as not to bugger up 9.) Better metering would be nice, for one. On a vaguely related note, I can sidechain shit to the drum sampler. Nothing good can come of this.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Yay finding random shit on the side of the road! I spotted an old TV full of vacuum tubes, and yoink'd 'em all. I got a Sylvania 5U4 and a Rayethon 12AU7/ECC82 out of the deal (and some random ones), and a spiffy old briefcase to take them home in. Apparently I can put the 5U4 in the AC30 as a substitute for the GZ34/5AR4, and the 12AU7 I need anyhow to replace a dodgy tremolo driver if I ever want to use the trem on the amp.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Worth noting, a 5U4, while having the same basic pinout as a GZ34, will draw a buttload more current on its heaters, and in certain amps, especially vintagey designs, that were drawn up for GZ34s, it could cause your power transformer to get very sad indeed. In addition to that, you will get much less B+ voltage out of it, and it will sag a shit-tonne more. Both of which can have interesting effects. But i honestly don't know if the Korg AC30 PT is well suited for 5U4 action. The trannies are big, but i don't know about how robust the 5v winding is.

Hopefully he doesn't make you pass the final trial in the ol' Dewysoss test.

I knew about the sag/voltage thing. What reading I've done says it's... Probably safe- in that people put them in AC30s and they don't smoke their amp. (Groove Tubes even went so far as to recommend their 5U4 for just such a thing; I suppose I should take that with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't expect them to be pimping a product that'll will damage something by following recommendations?) And I would assume it's probably reissues that are being tampered with. That being said, I should probably log into TGP and ask there; I doubt HCAF would be of much use.
