Yeah its not the easiest stuff to read. The first year of my PhD. was spent reading more or less as every paper is going to assume that you've read and know all the stuff its referencing so before you know it you're reading letter articles for the 60's that have been scanned poorly

same as me for the last part, though it's 20s for me not my 30s It annoys me when people tell me I don't need to lose any more weight, because I do. Still got some belly and man boob that is just well hidden. I'll easily be a size small and something like a 28" waist when I've lost all the fat.

Had my last day at my "old" job today, I almost feel a bit sad about it despite only being there for 6 months. Met some great people and had a good laugh but the pay, better shifts and bright lights of Milton Keynes have lured me away

Back to gigging regularly. I have my first show in several months today. I am liking this- it's what I should be doing.

I was driving home and decided to take a road I dont usually take. I ended up passing by a small car show of some mega rich dude's Ferrari collection. I stopped and took a look and it was for a charity fundraiser. For $20 I got a raffle ticket, and if I win I could drive one of the Ferrari's for a few hours.

Unlucky I'm still in a vaguely commutable distance so I can still live at home and save a load of money on rent. Take your mtb if you still have it, Woburn is pretty close and there's some awesome stuff to ride there, I could meet you and show you around

The show tonight went well, all things considered. We treated it as a warm-up for our upcoming bunch o' stuff, and it worked out. Tiny, cramped stage, useless or nonexistent monitors, y'know, all the things that make a rock show a rock show. Someone even filmed the whole thing. Apparently they like us? Fair enough.

Convergence, next week, and that should be redonkulous. Large stage, massive amounts of fog, over-dramatic lights, and opening for a national. And we have all the time in the world to set up beforehand- it's just us, some DJs spinning before/between, and Voltaire that night. That's it. Admittedly it's a bit of an odd pairing; we're a whole lot of bombast, and he is... not so much a whole lot of bombast. But what the hell- we could do worse for ourselves, no?

Went back to a girls house last night, woke up this morning and she still looked hot when we were both hung over and rough as fuck

the best part (other than the obvious) was when I got home and realised I still had leftover pizza for breakfast. A true heroes return.

Apparently we're on the intarwebs-radio in the UK and the DJ loves the hell out of us, according to my drummer. I didn't get the chance to listen, being away from the intarwebs all day, but apparently we were talked up something fierce. It's Off The Chart radio on the Unchart show, if that means anything to our UK persons.

My drummer seems optimistic about the whole thing, and he's as hard-bitten a been-around-the-block cynic as you can get. Apparently the show isn't the usual unsigned/local band format and we were played between Metallica and Muse. I'm only getting it second-hand, so...

This whole "being in a band people actually like" thing is unusual. People's reactions are different. It's interesting. I am not about to complain though.

My bass's intonation is all fuckerd up.

Need to go to the shop and get this bad boy setup by somebody with a tuner who can do such things.

New strings first though. That is the main reason that my bass is slightly out at the moment. Fuck buying bass strings before the old ones break.
