we already agreed we'd have to use that as a shared room and use a different room for the 4th bedroom. Bicycle jousting is as fine a solution as any, however.

Yes, some sort of joust would be needed to determine who will be the king of the castle

More of that going cray shiz. !!PROBABLEILLUSIONSOFREJECTION!! I am/have been in dire need of Old Man Beer.
As an aside: People here are really quite ugly. Going through the Fred Meyer is so depressing. I look for normal people to make eye contact with and give a nod or something equivalent and no. Just fuggin' no. No pretty girls to look at to somewhat brighten my dim days, no clearly likeminded homeboys to acknowledge the existence of. This place breeds trash. And trash breeds trash breeds trash. Everything is camouflage and Tapout shirts. It's fucking disheartening, to be honest. I stared at peanut butter pondering "How? How did they end up like this? How are they okay with this?" for what felt like 5 minutes. Too. Much. Fucking. Thinking.

Because it's Goddamn, Alaska, and that's all they've ever known. That's just what there is there; it doesn't really get any deeper than that- to try and find deeper than that is to lose the plot. I am reminded of a time a few years back (pre-all incarnations of Maps, IIRC) when my best friend moved to Utica, NY to take a teaching job there. She moved back about two months later- back to Buffalo, of all places, to be unemployed, referring to it as "a ghetto in the middle of the woods"* and being fairly convinced her landlord there was honest-to-god retarded. Like, actually a retarded person. *- having driven through on my way back from my ex's mom's in CT, I concur with this assessment. Granted there were some sketchy places in the middle of the woods in CT as well. It's only a few more weeks, correct?

Yup, I should be out of here mid or late september. So really, I should stop complaining, YET STILL.The thought provides finite comfort. Also, other issues that are irking me besides what's going on here are irking me. The sorta shit you don"t talk about, because it's lame to talk about and not properly relatable. In the words of Gordon Gano: I've got girl trouble.. ...Up the ass..! Most of which is likely a fabrication of my own mind, yet there is enough evidence for me to not feel my thoughts are illogical, though there's hopefully a more pleasant and simple explanation for my selftormentemetation. Problem with this place is, everyone else's world is going on, probably distracting enough to not give a fuck about what's going in my chunk of the world. But me, I am in fucking reverse Space Odyssey mode, time stands still. I am stuck with the little amount of information that I find stimulating that is given/shown to me. And I mine over that shit with a fine tooth comb, catching every knot and rough spot in the process. And goddamn dreams and shit. Can't get away from my subconscious now (forwhateverreason, regular intake of THC completely destroys my ability to dream or atleast recollect them) and it's annoying. I have very vivid and usually fairly (comparatively) realistic dreams. Sometimes I'm spending a grand ol' time with a girl, doing cutesy couple bullshit, sometimes I'm being forced to drown puppies at gunpoint. I really have no idea where my brain gets this shit from. Anyways, THIS is why when I am home I am high as a motherfucker from the time I wake up till I go to sleep. Allows me to shut this craziness out.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Would have to be a band i think. Throwback party thrash revival. Municipal Waste style. As for Alaska, it is a relatively short term thing, and as such, i think as miserable as it is, it might actually be useful to you in some way. Even if it is just to give you something external that sucks to be angry about. If it was like a place that you had just moved to and were going to stay and work there for the next section of forever, it would be a different thing. But you are in a position where you are like on a reverse vacation. A total mixup of your comfortable routine, that will end soon. Also, the dream stuff could very well be as much caused by the initial weed intake, as allowed back in by its cessation. The brain gets used to things, it tries to rewire itself to work as best it can with whatever you do to it. After you have been doing something to it for a period of time, if you take away its new blankie, sometimes it goes into overdrive. Even something simple like coffee will do that to me. If i cut it out, i have a short period of near-comatose, followed by an extended one of Completely Fucked Up Dreams, which eventually fade out. Then after a few months of Not Too Much Weird Going On, i usually miss and return to, delicious delicious coffee, and start the thing up all over again.

I will beat my friends if they don't sort themselves out and help make the dream become a reality. I'm definitely in, just need to get everyone else to do it.

I have acquired rum-flavored clove cigars as part of this evening's party supplies. This should be interesting.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I guess that "Free Shipping On Orders Over $25" that they put right under it, doesn't apply to PR?
What are those cabs made out of that they can offer them so cheap? $499 for a 50w head and a cab, WAT. It actually says birch plywood, but i don't see how the fuck that is possible at that price?
Aslo, what are those heads supposed to be like? Are they actually all tube? Or are they Engl-y SS/Tube hybrid monstrosities?
That is just weirdly cheap, even for a blow out.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
So I have decided to man up and build my own game engines. Why? Because I should fucking know how to code my own game engines if I want to seriously design my own games. Using templates, frameworks and third-party prefabs is a lazy-ass recipe for disaster. Plus, I need to be able to debug and I need some sort of marketable trade skill to get my foot in the game industry.
So I'm going back to basics and learning C# from the ground-up by building a pretty simple game to start, a console (fucking MS-DOS style likeaboss) text-based adventure.
After that, my buddy has been designing a card-game a la Magic: The Gathering for quite some time, and I talked to him about letting me build a video game engine for the card game so he can prototype test different cards, rules and play types.
The 2D side scroller is getting put on the back burner until I can confidently code a good engine for it and I have decided how I want to implement the artwork and animation.

And 10% off used gear, which means I could get this: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/amplifie ... 7005000031for fucking $250. Someone buy that and choose out $250-300 of gear in my classified thread for trade and let's do this. :red:

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
It certainly won't hurt to know how to build something from scratch in C#. I was never able to get fully interested in the programming side of the whole thing. My favorite part was misusing what already existed and getting it to do more or differently than it was designed to. Learning the technical side for me was only a matter of doing it so i could understand well enough how things worked, but only just well enough to misuse them, so i never really got too deep into that side at all. I found that i liked playing with the audio and graphical parts of things better than the underlying structures. Now it is interesting though, because a lot of the things that i liked to cheat with have now been replaced with hardware functions, as cards and systems have gotten more brutish. I am sure there is still engine-fuckwithability, like when you see what Crytek is putting out for instance, it is clear that they are getting sneaky with how they are optimizing and cheating to achieve things, but i wouldn't even know where to start to fuck with that stuff again. Actually, that isn't true, i would start with the modding community. There is a lot of sideways thought involved in making mods that are interesting and new. A lot of engine manipulation. That is probably where my mindset would work best, and as it is a community with a high ratio of amateurs there is a relatively easier in for a dood who didn't go to school for any of this shit. I don't know if i have the patience for that type of stuff anymore though.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
There's folk I play with, but I am just using the Tron Map. Which is doing fine, but is really fucking heavy to lug around. Plus it would be nice when people come over to have one for quick jams. But alas, the timing is not right for me to be buying any more equipment, in fact quite the opposite. There is a chance we might be getting out of Myrtle Beach in the near future, so the less shit I have to pack'n'move the better. | | | | chris_d wrote: It certainly won't hurt to know how to build something from scratch in C#. Yeah the chance I would go back to school for a BS is getting slimmer by the hour, so I am doing the self-taught thing. Luckily there are abundant resources, I like 3DBuzz for example (the closest to an online class/seminar setup I could find, as opposed to just copy-pasta tutorials that didn't teach me much) and even have a membership there. They got lots of stuff and the community is very noob friendly. I doubt I will keep my subscription for long, once i work my way through the C# tutorials (and then probably the C++ and Unreal stuff) I will probably cancel it. Lots of people have gotten their start in modding, especially if you get into the level design side of things.
