I am oddly drawn to this guitar:



I think I am just drawn to anything that remotely resembles an offset guitar :red:

Hmmm the guy with the above OLP is interested in a trade for the Orange TT that I haven't touched in years ....


I figure they are close enough in value that I could do a straight trade and let him pay the higher shipping on the guitar as the difference. But I'd really like to SELL a guitar before obtaining another one (which means the tele stays on the chopping block, hopefully someone will snag it).

Decisions, decisions ...

EDIT: Actually I might have to value that TT higher than the guitar, and see if I can get some cash or something else on top.

I hate the looks of those, but the real one(not OLP) that i played back in the day, had one of the nicest neck profiles ever. Felt like a properly worn shredder. Not too thin, but very nice and fast. The only thing close to it that i can recall was when i played Kurt Ballou's Warmoth-necked partscaster in the olden days when we recoarded with him, which is still one of the nicest neck profiles i have met.

I wonder if the OLP has the same profile as the real deal? I vaguely remember that they modeled the neck after one of EVH's classic guits for that one? It was definitely not a typical shred guitar feel, much nicer.

The neck is supposed to feel a lot like the Wolfgang necks, and not the Axis necks like one would assume based on he model name.

From what I have read, they are sleeper-shredders. They were nice but not available for very long. This specific one is the late model which has a real maple top. According to the guy:

"This is one of the rare later models with a solid maple top, Rockfield Mafia pickups and an Original Floyd Rose"

Not bad parts-wise.

I liked the feel of the OLP I played but the looks are a bit odd to me, and floyds are not my cup of tea at all.

Eh, I can't really do it without selling a guitar first anyway, and if I sell my tele I will have the money for a wider variety of used shredders so it's whatevs.

Well since I have the cash, I am not going to bother with the Orange trade.

Technically it is not my amp ... it belongs to my bro who gave it to me along with his jap strat. He loves the guitar but doesn't care about the amp, so I was just going to buy it off of him for the trade value. But, I'd rather just let his stay his stuff ... at my mom's house :cop:







So time to start looking into used shredders. And I am thinking Charvel.

Anyone have experience with ESPs?

I don't get along with ESPs visually, but i know they can be nice geetars. I don't know which ones are the ones to go for though.

I want to play some, and my local shop carries them. The ones I have played had pretty decent necks.

As far as aesthetics, the strat-shaped ones look like just about every other strat-shaped shredder.

Yarr, i just don't like the block of model number 12th fret inlay thing they do, or any carved top shaped things for bodies.

Actually the Model and Series number on the 12th fret is my biggest gripe with ESP, but at least it isn't tribal inlays :idk:
