A fun one, just 'cause, in the style of other forums, because I am bored and drank the riesling as I am snowed in. :red:

Mine?

Vox AC30, NMV. My dearest Stephanie.
Fender Super Reverb, blackface circuit.
Bogner Shiva. 4x12 with Greenies, probably a beat-to-fuck old Marshall.
Mesa Dual Rec. Yeah, no, seriously. Probably through the above cab, too. I don't care which iteration; I love Orange/Vintage.

Now, that's all stuff I know like the back of my hand. I've posted clips of it all. I just wish I had it all in one room at once. Seriously, I would be content with that. Lotta sounds in those, that I would and do use. I know I can make my thing happen there with little/no effort, and while I like trying new and different stuff, my Toan Quest was completed, demonstrably, I think, a good long while ago re: mapsounds. The one thing I have not played and would really like to: Hiwatt. Very curious about that (or Reeves, which is the same thing, for that matter.)

Bass gear, I am utterly conventional. I am an Ampeg girl, SVT, thanks. Just, not with the 8x10 cab. Too murky for me. Give me a modern cab, something bright, punchy and clear. And smaller. I will not move gear that weighs more than I do. Not to a gig at least. I like my Jazz Basses, and midrange, and a big, overdriven tone, and... Yeah, it's so staid, conventional and boring a choice, but it works for what I do.

Since we are all on Maps after all, where are your tastes in maps leaning these days?

Still completely happy with my Laney GH50L tbh. It has that good balance of vintage/modern feel. I tend to aim for a Tom Delonge style tone for everything whether it be classic rawk or my somewhat southern inspired riff rawkus.

I am still curious about trying V30s though and will be tempted to get a pair if I can find some used for a good price. I also would quite like an Orange 4x12 but as my gear lives upstairs I dunno whether I can be arsed with the hassle, my sturdy 2x12 is effort enough. Plus I can get all my gear in my car without having to put the seats down or anything, a 4x12 would change that.

Would really like to try out a Bassman, modded Mike Ness style. Because I think his toane is fucking awesome.

AC30. Have always liked the sound of these but not sure if it'd suit my style of playing.

Have to say I'm very intrigued by the Orange Micro Terror for quiet playing, but then my Laney sounds fine quiet so I dunno if it's worth it.

Bass-wise I really want an Ampeg but I think I'm gonna buy an Ashdown combo in the new year since I can get a good solid one for about £160 posted.

5150 II... for teh br00tz.

My Laney Pro Tube if it were refurbished into awesomeness. Needs a new head case and while we're at it, might as well replace all the electrolytic caps.

Fender Bassman for my occasional bouts of rock riffery.

Also, whatever would get me this tone

I think it would probably still be too vintage for most of what I play though.

I feel like my amps are my ideal amps. AC15, 5150 (granted, you guys've not heard much of this guy). Do you need many things besides that? Maybe, but I am pretty sure that I don't, least not for now.. But honestly, I don't think I am going to feel map GAS for a very long time now. Now I just want microphones to better capture said maps.

Re-reading my answer, I half regret it. Like most of you, I could see myself having a real good time with a proper JMP stack, which would really just be achieving the same thing I was going for with the AC15, though a bit more ballsy.

And yeah of course, a big ol' SVT if we're including bass gear. I mean really, what are the other options? :red: It's not like choosing between Marshall, Vox or Fender classic designs. There's more or less just that and a couple others for old, old badass shit. I would just want something that could get retardedly loud and distort/compress in a real nice manner when I do so. And tubes are the best way to get there. Alternately, a Superbass would be good fun.

My Bad Cat clone
Some type of Orange single channel beast
A proper AC30/AC15
XTC
Mesa Mark IIC+ or some other Mark series amp
A Marshall of some kind
2 2x12, one with V30s, one with H30,
4x12 with Greenbacks

If I get around to fixing my Laney, I'd probably have the Marshall covered though. An old JMP would be ideal, JCM800 would also be nice. I don't really need the vintage/desirable edition of anything, except for maybe the Orange, which would be particularly awesome if it was old and had some huge Cam-sized transformers. My amps just need to sound the part, not "be" nor "look" it.

DOH.. i'll play.

i'd probably keep my carmen ghia head.
add me a mazerati (basically the same, but twice the wattage) head
and grab a hiwatt dr504.

logic? got a full range of quiet to loud covered, and a whole lot of gain sitches. the hiwatt'd just be there for retarded volume levels and pantsflappery. i doubt very seriously i'd ever ever need it. :( but it'd be nice to have on hand.

i might also just put in an ac15hwtv combo with a greenback in it just because j'heart it. and a 5e3 would be great too.

I'd probably use all of the heads through an ancient mesa tilt half back cab loaded with emi dp12a's in the bottom-- or if it's fantasy land-- fane axas, and something a little chirpier on top? course, that being if i didn't just have a plain old matching hiwatt cab for the hiwatt. okay, twist my arm- i choose that.

i know full well for bass, i'd just use a g/k rb4 or 800 and a mesa RR 215 with some sorta driver out front and call that cooked.

For the most part I can get by just fine with my superbass and AOR. I'd quite like a Splawn Nitro and an EA MV120 for dickabouts.

Dr. Z was just too clean for me when I tried it. I need a little more filth- not that I'm a high gain guy- even when I played metal, I was notorious for using way less dirt than the other folks- but I need a bit more rage from the amp. I am a single-coil player these days though, so...

I'd really like to play a Superbass. I don't think I've ever even seen one in real life.

Re: AC15- I'd take Blues, or the Weber equivalent (I heart Mr. Chris-From-Garda's Weber-loaded Marshall cab- that thing slays all other cabs, IMO. You would heart it too.) but yeah... The sad fact of being an AC30 owner is Ms. Stephanie just cannot be unleashed outside the studio. It's funny, last time we did a session her 4x12 (Divided By 13 full of Blues- which are pretty damn efficent! Loudest 60W cab you will ever hear!) was in an iso booth beyond two Serious Doors and we could hear me in the control room Quite Fine, Thank You when the band wasn't rolling. We had to take a break for a bit when a tour went through, and I was ripping shred solos. Yes, I was basically doing it to be a sort of asshole and play the part. At the same time, we'd finally gotten set up and were ready to throw down some takes. I know what I like in terms of tones, though, and those generally involve pushed amps. AC30 is retarded loud though, even on a big stage, if you have half a brain and aren't depending on the monitor mix. (If you are depending on the monitor mix, you might as well punch yourself in the junk repeatedly as it will feel better.)

I do find it amusing I roll with a 30w (really a 50w amp when its going) and my other guitarist rolls with a 200w amp, or I'll play bass with a 100w tube amp and our guitarist rolls with 200w again of rack gear.

Had a Mark IV, very early serial, "A" version with the IIC+ lead channel. Gigged (if not quite really toured) it for a few years. (You don't want to know what I paid; hint: the dumbasses at GC thought it was broken because the tubes were the original tubes from '89. Do the math. :D )The lead channel alone is worth the price of admission. And it sounds great at low volumes. Excellent, actually, at any volume, and the low wattage settings cranked with a drummer? I don't give a shit about the rest of the channels, which are okay. I never scooped the graphic EQ either, not unless I was screwing around at home wanting to see what it did. Weird as hell to dial in. Really great tones though. I've played all of the Mesa Marks, I-V and the Studio preamp and that lead channel is the amp. Ugly bastard of a thing, visually. Sounds awesome.

Also, everything Engl that I've played through or heard live sounds way better than forum clips. Think Marshall, same "color" tonally, but more balls. Very aggressive sound. Cleans are surprisingly good for a Marshall-flavoured thing. Seen deathmetallers with them, seen Sisters Of Mercy with them, and Warren Haynes  has an Engl cab with his SLO. Apparently those cabs weigh a ton. I have been consistently impressed, perhaps because I thought I would be underwhelmed because of how people on the intarwebs dial them in. No, everything they make kicks ass that I have heard in person.
