Noice, so I put up a guitarist/bassist available ad again and have already had 4 responses with bands/jamming partners who actually have drummers, which makes a refreshing change. Really want to get a band going, its been far too long and I'm sitting on far too much material!

Well today is the day I have to finally get off my arse and reinstall windows onto my main computer. It no longer plays back video and/or audio without stuttering badly so I'm forced to do this. I cannot be arsed :red:

Post Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Put an old set of bulbs in my AOR. It worked for an hour then out came an awful moderately high pitched squeal. I killed the power quickly. This is what happened when I recorded last week and it blew the mains fuse shortly after being powered up again. Can't imagine that I've killed another set of tubes that quickly (or even that the other ones are even dead). I haven't brought it back to the ranch to pop it open and an intermittent fault like that is going to be a real cocksucker to diagnose at home. Initial thoughts are that the filter caps are on their way out, the increased ESR is causing them to heat, increasing the ESR again and its blowing the fuse. Odd that it tanked the mains fuse and not the HT fuse though, although the HT fuse is 1A which is quite large. The real pain in the ass here is that replacing the filter caps isn't all that easy in an AOR as the preamp cans are under the board. I'm disputing just gutting it and building something else in it. Maybe a MV Klipp with an FX loop?

All my fans are working, and heatsink seems secured ok. It could really do with a fresh install anyway, I've installed and uninstalled so much shit on here. Just waiting for the last of my shits to be backed up and I'mma format this.

Also got a new t-shirt today, it's relevant to the forumz

Aslo, it wouldn't be if yer fans/sinks were not warking, but rather that they might be clogged all up wif dust and whatnot.

Around here, i have to dissassemble and clean my laptop oh aboot erry six month or so. This house is Dust Central.

In fact, this house may in fact be where all dust comes from.

So the other guitarist in my band went to see Peter Murphy the other day. I am broke, so I couldn't go. Ours opened. There was no opener advertised. I would really like to have gone to see that. He said they were fantastic.

Dude from Ours has a pretty slick voice, but i didn't get along with most of what i listened to of theirs. The voice makes me think of Jeff Buckley, which i am into, but the music strikes me much more as being in the flavor of something like Muse, which of course, i personally dina dig on.

Peter Murphy though, is swell.

First gig wif 11Rack was Saturday. Apart from having one dodgey midi cable for my controller all went swimmingly. I had just put in a backup midi cable so it all worked out. Sounds was great, the only thing about the 11R is the main volume kinds goes up in a scalular fashion, so if I ran the knob quickly it jumped a bit. Sound was very good, I went with running the 11r in one monitor for myself and out the mains. Sounded great. hardest thing is finding a place to put it. I'm trying to make life easier but it's trying to come up with a solution to view the 11R not have it on the floor etc...

I can see that, what with the bombast and all. Though not the prog + dance thing Muse does. He has a lovelygood voice though, Mr. Gnecco. I've seen Peter Murphy in the recent past and he was fabulous and his band delivered the goods. He's better now than he was then. He was doing all Bauhaus toons this time, too. Some voices improve with age, and that is one of them. Their songs might not get better, but their voice does. (I'd add Bowie and Bruce Dickinson to this category. I'd rather hear them now. Or, at least, ten years ago.)

Said guitarist's wife is a theatre sort. And thought Mr. Akerfeldt was phenomenal live @ Opeth (same venue) so I am curious to hear her impressions of those two. I know you are not a fan of the above-mentioned progmetal frontman, but he's gotten real fucking good over the years. Both halves of said couple are big Muse fans, too; they've seen them at least half a dozen times, never in the States. (They don't even get radio play here at all from what I've been told; that's how backward this town is.) If that gives you any idea of their tastes in things. :snax:

We collectively took all our shit home last night and need to make patches for all the snogs. Having the whole band do it (minus drums and vocals) will hopefully make the DI thing easier.

We're just gonna put it all in a bigass rack, two lines to the house, and go. We're also standardizing on ProTools for cross-platform compatibility and stability. I will of course keep using Logic for sequencing and editing work at home because it's better for that IMO. But for general usage transferring between ourselves, the live gear, other peoples' studio gear, etc. we're going to PT.

Re: viewing the 11R live, it really depends on how you're set up. We've historically used a road case for the laptop beneath or beside the keys. If you're playing synth and have one on your side of the stage, keyboard stand is always an option; a second tier or laptop mount.

The soundperson wasn't giving you shit about running the guitar DI?

Sound person was myself and the bassist. We use a QSC system 2 K12's and a K Sub. Very awesome. No shits were given.

I used one of our wedges behind me and we were in a small spot and can't really do a wedge in from and I had the 11R in a soft rack on top of that angled back. My keyboard stand is one of the USS triangular ones that only has 2 V's sticking out ro hold 2 kayboards. I will need to work something out with the drummer, he's using a rack and I could put it on top in in a larger rack with him. Would make more sense.

Looked at a badass apartment today (to cam: right on the corner of the street right next to the bridge brewpub, stone's throw distance). Hopefully hear back in the next couple of days. Really fucking want this place. It's: A) Cheaper than our current one B) Bigger than our current one C) In a very nice residential area right on the edge of downtown (20 minute walk to the capitol in the center of downtown) D) A 5 minute walk from our doapman E) Fucking badass historical apartment that has been kept up in amazing condition F) Our would-be landlord has a pony-tail.

Really couldn't ask for more.

Started this keto thing on the weekend. Inspired by Zozo, and partially my dad because he shed 30 or so pounds while i was out of town for 2.5 months. Muscle tiredness started today. Did my first measurement at 170 today, goal is 150, which isnt bad considering my weight was 145 for a good 4 years. Also, there will be incoming guitar porn soon. Got a 'murican Bigsby b7 on the yamaha, and a custom cut bone nut on the mockingbird, slightly raised action and slotted for 11's. :D

Bah, I hate when I feel like I'm whining to myself. "Tony, I have a problem and its my own fault..." *inturupt myself* "Then stop whinning and fix it you dumb shit! Just do what ya gotta do!" Maybe that's why I find it hard to talk to people about my problems, I find them stupid and fixable.

I've no idea HOW IN THE FUCK people track multiple vocal tracks so tightly together. My fuck, I am far too sloppy for that shit.
