Re: What Are U Listening To Right Now: Home Surgery Instruct
After a good few listens now, I am over the things lack of more blatantly hooky stuff and pop song structures. Dudes are on some next level odd shit, bruh.

It's funny being able to recognize that there are Microkorg patches on this album. Also: thing rules pretty goddamn hard.

I had to find this- the ladyfriend got me into True Blood and this is the song from the end credits of season 3.

it's the guys from red red meat-- SUPER prolific, and MOST of what they do is similar, but SO good. fucked up fragmented mellow stoner blues and noise experiments. i think you'd dig it in quieter moments. total heroes.

Re: What Are U Listening To Right Now: Home Surgery Instruct
I really wish I had a lyric sheet for this new Carcass album. I really have no idea what some of these songs could be about. 'The Granulating Dark Satanic Mills' has a chorus where they are just saying numbers. Like what the hell is going on? Some of the songs I appreciate more once I see the song title. Like this one track was striking me as just, I don't even know, and I check and it's called 'Noncompliance to ASTM F 899-12 Standard'. And suddenly the song seems a lot cooler to me.
It will need more repeat listens. Turns out listening to it on bad headphones while I flop about on a treadmill is not the most flattering method of delivery.

Only just now getting around to listening to this, which I am actually thankful for. I have been listening to a lot of Beach Boys inspired indie/experimental music the past however long and this is may be one of my more favorite flavors of that that I have yet heard.

Yarr, the kids fucking loved that one when it came out. I personally prefer the two animal collective discs i like most, but i can dig it.
A fair bit less weird/looping, but with an otherwise almost similar sound, you might enjoy some of the Fleet Foxes stuff as well. Some of the vocal sounds are similar to me, though the structures of the fleet foxes stuff are much less locked-in-looper in vibe and much more almost-traditional folk of some sort. It might be a bit too trad-folk for your taste though. I could see that potentially being the case.
Re: What Are U Listening To Right Now: Home Surgery Instruct
I like Strawberry Jam and Feels more then this by a fair bit, but it is sweet to be able to hear a bunch of Panda Bear's vocals and ideas versus the Avey Tare dominant AxC stuff.
Liking what I am hearing from the first song from this album, I will have to get a hold of this and get a solid listen in.

Lots of folks whose tastes generally mirror my own a fair bit, liked the panda bear record much more than the AC stuff. Generally i would think i would prefer it too, considering the sounds that are there, but for whatever reason i don't.
I would be curious to hear what you thought of the rest of that Fleet Foxes recoard. I myself did not like it very much, the first five or so times i made myself listen to it(kept trying, generally because it kept popping up within the recommendations of others), but now it has grown on me and i do diggit.
Re: What Are U Listening To Right Now: Home Surgery Instruct
For me, it is not surprising that I like the AnCo more as it is a lot more spontaneous and adventurous in song structure, whereas this Panda Bear stuff is a lot more about building on a base sample. What I am really digging is the vocal arrangement and sound on Person Pitch, shit is way killer and actually Beach Boys sounding, not just vaguely inspired by.
