That it wasn't just scrapped forty-plus years ago is something of a minor miracle. At some point, this thing was decomissioned and presumably just wheeled into a storage area, to be forgotten about until long after it had any possible utility to its owners (perhaps as a backup to whatever replaced it). Also, someone had the presence of mind or knowledge to realize this is actually worth something- quite a lot of something to the right person, who'll actually use it- at least the mic amps- rather than getting a couple burly dudes to haul it to the curb.

Also, next time I need an eight channel mixer, I'll be sure to get one at least 48 rackspaces high.
