800s are one of those things I should have bought a whole bunch of when they were $4-500 all day long. JMPs, too. No one wanted '70s JMPs.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
My music quarters are finally getting to how I want them to look. I just want a better desk and some cool shit for the walls. And, as always, an Orange 4x12. The Gibson stool is actually awesome, perfect height for playing and I've been playing a lot more now I have something comfy to sit on, office chairs are no good.

That only explains like, 95% of it. Funnily enough, I regularly reference these pictures: http://graneroperro.com/doncab/pictures/adon_pics.html

The players have a bit to do with it too. And is that a JCM 900 I see? Extra points for the coated kick batter head. Anyhoo, that's making me look on the 'bay at old Altec mics, as they're pretty under the radar.

Trying to stop smoking weed again, it's Day 1. I'll make it through the night, but we'll see about tomorrow.
Been awhile since I whined about such things here, but I have been steadily growing further fucked in the head since I last did.

Depends on how rock and roll you consider pop punk It's a 60's Tribute. Basically met all my requirements for a LP: simple, hot pickups (Burstbuckers), maple cap, Nashville bridge. I'll have a picture of it up at some point.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
This guy had the nerve to ask me to record drums for his grindcore project FO FREE. I agreed to do it of course, because I live for this shit. And man, the drum sound I got this time is sooo goood.

Word. What's the behind-the-kick mic and where's it aimed? I'm gonna guess 57 at the beater, but I could be wrong?
Unrelated, but awesome: has anyone here watched Cosmos and seen the awesome animated tardigrades? They look pretty immense, I must say.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I found the cartoon bits charming, and the CGI stuff is tasteful. The content is mostly high school science class (if you were paying attention in it) to intro to/survey of introductory college course for non-science majors, but that's to be expected- it's a generalist, not specialist show. And actually, I'd recommend it for use in the former setting- the content is there, production values are high, and it's far from sleep-inducing. It's quality work all around. Plus having creationism put in its place on national television by a large black man is worth its weight in gold.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
I am remembering how to play some reallly old guitar things, all in a pile, some things that i have tried to recall before but just not had any clue on fingerings/tunings/thoughtprocess to be able to decipher. Just sort of all plopped out over the last couple days. Brain is a funny thing. Also. My real amp is broken(probably something stupid like input jack ground/wiring but i haven't cracked it open yet) and for some reason this triggered in me a desire to buy or build a new amp. First and foremost i think i need a new cab though. I am thinking something in the utterly simple/cliche 1960A/B realm. Originally i was thinking to build myself something Emperor-like, but it is funny, between the plywood and the speakers and the hardware, it is not actually cheaper to build one. Besides, i think that right now what i really want is just a baseline cabinet. Something that i know exactly what it is going to provide. I am also thinking that i want to pick up an SM57. That sort of thing. I should probably already have both by now anyhow. I am also now really seriously thinking about buying a busted US1800 for cheaps and seeing if i can fix it for frees, and then put the two into use as separate upstairs/downstairs setups. GC has a couple busted ones for $80. And it is almost worth it to me to gamble on whether or not it will actually be repairable. At the same time, i really don't have the money to do all of the things i want to do right now(not even counting the need i haven't mentioned yet for a new snare and more appropriate, thinner, cymbals than my very deathmetal-flavored Sabians) so i am hesitant to blow $80 on something that might never work.

Re: Blog/tweet about shit in your life here
Are you talking about the Emperor-style cabs or cabs in general not being cheaper to build? Beat-up 1960s are plenty common and cheap, even in the gear wasteland that's my city; I figure you could probably score one for $250 if you're willing to wait and don't care how it looks. $300 or so is common enough. Figure you'd be out over two bills just on the speakers anyhow.
