Post Picks.
Random question for no reason just to liven up the place. How do you usually roll?

Moi, Dunlop Gator Grip 2.0mm on electric, Dunlop Nylon 1.0mm on acoustic, fingers on bass. The 2mm deal on the off chance I want a pick for that.

I like the 2mms on electric 'cause they don't give at all, and the somewhat softer material of the Gator Grips doesn't wear away like the hard plastic of the Big Stubbies. Also, they're grippy onstage where one's hands can get sweaty. Acoustics, I haven't busted out an acoustic live in aeons so that's not a concern, but the tone of the thick and soft Gator Grips is too dark. The nylon 1mms are rigid enough and have a brighter attack to 'em. Bass, I'm just more comfortable, and usually faster, with my fingers versus a pick. If I'm picking the thing, I just grab the thickest thing I have on hand, which is generally my usual electric pick.

Yes, in the immortal words of Slipperman, the fucking pick matters. Sometimes I'll record clean electrics with the thinner (comparatively) picks. I don't feel it matters as much on dirty electrics.

I've played with a metal pick before just to experiment, and it feels like I'mma destroy the strings. Yes, rigid and inflexible, but I don't like the feel.

Bonus question: slides! Vintage medicine bottles here. I have a big green one that's my fave-o-rite.

Et tu?

I have been using the grey 0.88 nylon dunlops for a long ass time now. I generally buy a ton of them and swap them out when they get too floppy. I like them to have some give to them, but it is a fine balance. A brand new 0.88 nylon is just about right though. I tend to record cleaner guitars with fresher/stiffer picks when possible. The more beat up bendy ones i tend to use for acoustic strumming.

I have a couple slides, a steel one and a glass one, but i never use them. For a while i was using the chrome lug from a rack tom as a slide though. It basically just made video game noises.

1.35mm Black Tortex Jazz IIIs. Slightly larger than a Jazz and its made of Tortex which is my favorite material. There the only pick I use now.
