May your day of Krampus be filled with children in baskets going to hell and many switches to beat them with.

There aren't any good rivers around there(and besides it just isn't quite cold enough for them to be effectice anyhow right now) but i am going to carry a glass of ice water around all day at work and threaten people with it who i suspect of misbehaving.

Spent a bunch more money than i should have on a new desktop computer setup, and am now trying to get accustomed to viewing the internet world via a 28" monitor. Shit is fucking weird man. Weird and gigantic.

I'm not a massive cider fan but Somersby is alright. Pretty much anything other than Strongbow is ok actually.

Tried that foar its packaging(which i also find swell), didna like it too much. Tasted too apple-juicy/yeasty to me and i found it to have a mild metallic twinge to it.

After the fact i learned who made it and it made more sense to me. I credit them for trying anyhow. I am weird with ciders though, i don't tend to like a lot of the ones that other people like just fine. My sister loves the Downeast ones for instance, but i don't dig them either.

So far my favorite cheaper option remains the Angry Orchard Crisp Apple.

If i am feeling a bit more like drinking my money, a couple of the Crispin offerings are godamned delicious as well.

One of these days i am going to hunt down/visit the Farnum Hill ones though. Prolly a field trip with my older sister and her husband at some point. They are supposed to have a pretty amazing orchard going there these days, and they do some interesting mixes of fucked up/delicious cider apples, and aren't much more than a couple hours away from here.

If you can get it buy some Westons Vintage

Suckling at the teat of Henry is an efficient way to get drunk.

Alternatively you can make some turbo cider. It's quite easy.
Image

Sterilize and rinse a demijohn/carboy and airlock
Bring 1L of apple juice to the boil in a large pan. Add a jar of honey (~340g), two earl grey tea bags and ~ 80g of white sugar.
Let that boil/simmer for 10-15 minutes and then add another 1L of apple juice and remove from heat.
Add 2L of apple juice to the demijohn and then pour in the syrup you've made in the pan. Be sure to remove the tea bags as you'll never get them out of the DJ!
When you think the mixture is below 30°C add in a sachet of yeast, give it a swirl and put the airlock on.
Wait for 1-2 weeks
booze!

Apple juice from concentrate is fine. Make sure it doesn't contain any preservatives or not much will happen.
With the above recipe you will get something in the region of 8-9% ABV assuming your AJ is of about 113g/L sugar content.

You can add flavours at the boiling stage if you like. My current batch is festively spiced with a cinnamon stick, a few cloves and powdered ginger.

Give it a go. It is real easy. Search for turbo cider for more inspiration if you want to try some fancy flavours.
The key thing is to add in some tannins to get the dry flavour. That's what the tea bags are used for and Earl Grey gives it a nice fruity flavour.

Started working on some new riffage in drop b. Good lawd I love this tuning for heavy sludge with a fuzz  it goes a bit out of tune toward the end. I shall work more on this over the weekend. Is it just me or does EZD2 go a bit out of time sometimes in the fills? It's doing my head in. Can't tell if it's just me being out of practice.

Seems a little bit out of tune throughout, but good gawd it sounds massive. Would probably use a fatter snare and turn down the bass a bit in the mix but that sounds gargantuan.

Haha thanks man, never had a track described as gargantuan before :) I'll take your advice on the mix and things when I get the whole thing written and can take a bit more time and care with it :tu:

I think the out of tune ness may be that I'm doing it on an SG with 10s, the strings are flapping about all over the shop with this little tension :red:

Yeah that tone is hooo boy.

Drums seem to hang way back which sounds heavy. Did you intentionally play ahead of them or pull them back, or?

Believe it or not the toane is all Amplitube 3. I love fuzz  I didn't intentionally hang back on the drums afaik, probably just my sloppy playing

I've really begun to become a believer in the validity of micing a guitar cab with a single 57. It is strange how it really does just fucking work so well. :red:

I'm proud to say banning all those Russian spammers really tanked their economy. I am personally responsible for the collapse of the Ruble. :mexican:

My wife just got a job at Nickelodeon, she's going to be animating the little shorts/branding stuff during commerical breaks and in between shows.

Super excited, but it does mean she is moving to NYC for the foreseeable future. My job is kinda sweet so I am staying in Raleigh. Luckily there are cheap direct flights between the two cities and I'm only in the office 3/5 days a week anyway, so we will manage the distance.

But now I can buy more fancy guitars, and with the apartment to myself I'll actually have a place to put them! :panic:
