Re: NGD!
Fucking awesome is how it sounds! It has this great bite and attack to it which stops the low end sounding woofy which is great if you're a low frequency pervert like I am I've yet to play it through my proper rig but using my modded VK through H30s it sounds great. I kinda feel silly for not getting an SG sooner. The neck is danish oiled too so it has a satin finish which feels great. My only gripe is the tuners have a wacky ratio but thats just gibson for you. Might stick some locking gotoh ones on at some point.

Re: NGD!
Nice! Yeah, the Gibson tuners are pure weird-ratio shit, IMO. Every guitar that i have had with them became so much better with some decent lockers with a 'normal' ratio. SGs are definitely right at the top for guitars for me. Telecaster is the best for what i like, but the SG will always be right behind it. They are lightweight, sound good, have cool neck flexy sound effectability, and are surprisingly sonically adaptable. I have one with some old Gibson HBs in it that can almost sound like P90/single coils when it has new strings on it. Awesome rock guitars IMO. I only wish that Gibson wanted less money for them! Then i would have a pile of them.

Re: NGD!
Oh I wanted one of those with P90s for quite sometime. Probably the only Gibson I would own right there.
Sexiness, HNGD!

Re: NGD!
Explorers are my mainstay but a decent quality one costs way too much cash. The SG is right behind it for me. I've been gassing had for one since 2003! I'd love a USA hamer but I could never drop that kind of money on a guitar. They simply take too much abuse from gigging.
Best thing is that I scored this, including the refinish and set up (one of my best buds is a guitar luthier) for £350!

Re: NGD!
Maybez. To get serious though, do you know of any quality, inexpensive "classic" Explorer copies? I want the body shape but still want a decent guitar for a decent price. MUST HAVE.

Re: NGD!
I've been looking for a long time for something up to scratch. The Korean Dean Z79s are hit and miss. Mines a dream to play but the motherfucker is microphonic so its now retired. The cheap tokai LPs I've played have been good so their explorer might be okay. My MIK hamer sunburst is good enough for the cash so I dont see why their explorer would be much different. I'd like a hamer USA standard but thats some serious money. Its unlikely you'll see one but the gordon smith explorer is a real good guitar.

Re: NGD!
I shall keep these things in mind. I'll check out the Tokai dealio. Thanks for the info. An Explorer with P-90s shall be mine in time!
