RE: bloggin/tweetin bout my life: I have been listening to The Band pretty much incessantly the last few weeks. Never really paid any attention to em outside of liking The Weight when I heard it on the radio in movies or commercials or whatever. Those first two records fuckin rip, gives me a similar feelin to when I first heard Thin Lizzy. Shit is just insanely righteous roots rock n roll. Both absurdly american sounding bands that aren't even properly american bands.

Running the first play test tomorrow. Babs is going to do the layout and my friend is doing the artwork. Going to self-publish the thing.

On the music side I continue to write songs I hate. Went to Raleigh recently and it was kind of a weird passive aggressive thing with the guys from the Oh Whales who are off doing their own thing. Iunno I love the guys but me moving kinda wrecked shit personally despite my best efforts and intentions. Their new band is good though so I am happy for them. Not going back to Raleigh anytime soon though. I think I have been officially demoted from “best friend” to “dude who shows up randomly” despite being the only person who travels to see anyone. Eh sucks, life moves on.

I have microphones and an interface now so noise shall be had.

It has been a weird last couple of years for me, even aside from normal pandemic disruptions. Brutal rotten work busy-ness interspersed with completely random unexpected bouts of absolutely nothing, followed similarly randomly and unexpectedly by brutal rotten work busy-ness, and the cycle repeats.

Hasn't been super conducive to me feeling all that productive, creatively.

I have been kind of slow to come around i guess, to the idea that i need to actually schedule and MAKE mental/physical space a lot more actively than i ever have in my life.

When i was younger, there just was a continual, unstoppable force of things needing to be built, getting built, almost without thinking about it. I guess some of it is like muscular mechanisms, coincidence/luck/distraction results in underuse, underuse results in atrophy. You eventually need to become an active pursuant of the exercise in order to retain the ability, in this case, to create.

Still playing and writing things-ish, just not recording, or being super effective in my processes lately. Haven't touched my drums in like three years, either, which i am starting to feel is more of a factor than i kind of gave it credit for.

Pretty optimistic for nicer weather, more sun, green things returning, though.

Man I am so stuck creatively, been just diving into other hobbies to help take my mind off it. Got into gardening.

Also just got promoted to a Principal Software Engineer which is a far loftier title than I deserve, but I won’t complain given the paycheck.

That is fucking rad, Dev. More monies is pretty much invariably, more better.

What type of gardens have you been gardening?

All indoor. It started when I received an Aerogarden as a gift, and now I have 2 tomato plants, 2 cherry tomato plants, 6 succulent/cacti, a pepper plant, 3 large basil plants (2 Genovese and a Thai), the Aerogarden has 9 various herbs, then I have a grow tent with 4 hydroponic weed plants and one growing in soil.

Good news! I have joined the frontline fight to either create or stop the robot apocalypse. Haven’t figured out where I land on that yet though. Should be neat either way!

Lets be real, whatever our intentions might be for aiding or delaying the robut apocalypse, the robuts are gonna win anyhow.

I, for one, welcome our new robut overlords, and look forward to having my corporeal form modified to function as some sort of energy source for them.

After a couple months of working on robots, I can say with some confidence we do not need to sweat the robot apocalypse any time soon.

Snaxie I am very glad to see you're well. I really didn't know what was going on when you disappeared but it really did bum me out, and I was wondering how you're doing. I'm admittedly someone who's been critical of some aspects of society's massive embrace of the trans movement but with you I am neither surprised nor bothered in the slightest, it just makes sense. I'm just happy that you are doing what's right for you and also impressed with your courage.
