The voice needs some compress and EQ though. Need to jack up the presence and lose some lows. Perhaps a redo of the vocals with a pop filter is needed, also.

I planned on redoing the vocals, this was just a track so everyone could get a feel for it. However, that vocal track is completely dry, I am letting snaxie handle that one because I can't mix shit very well.

I am trying to get rid of this silly cough so I can work on some bettar rappins.

The vocals weren't hard to freshen up at all, actually.

They were a pretty clean cut considering it was half hand-held with no pop filter.

Next take I'll rig up a two stand jig with a pop filter

I managed to get my "rap" relatively pop-free and sounding good by holding the mic about a foot or two away then just have a fair bit of preamp gain to make up for the distance. Probably won't work if your pre is noisy though I suppose

My pre is noisy and a piece of crap, but I had a MXL 990 set up like that.

Ill mess with it. Between the two mics I should be able to get enough distance without the pop. Regardless, pop filters are easy to rig.

If you have a low-cut on your mic, it helps quite a bit IMO. You don't need sub-lows on a vocal anyway unless you're Barry White or Peter Steele or some shit. There's a three-position low cut on my KSM27 and I use it quite extensively on vocal tracks.

I still need to work on the production on Dev's vocals, automating delays and whatnot. And cleaning up the intro voiceover. Also, I realize I mixed this down way way too hot and it's probably clipping like a mofo. I cranked the level to hear the low B on the bass clearly over the pop-punk kiddies down the hall as the Focusrite doesn't have a very powerful headphone amp comparatively.

Bass is the Jazz straight into the Focusrite. Ampeg SVX and some compression did the trick. No EQ save for the tone controls on SVX. Monsterous sub-lows.

Now it needs some gangsta synth and perhaps some scratching or whatever else the posse feels like throwing down on here.

I wonder if the ball clap samples from Sneap's forum are still out there somewhere? I know those wound up mixed with the drums on a couple albums from bands who pissed the engineer off. Guy smacking his balls.

I haven't even heard it on real speakers yet so I have no idea how much definition that bass tone has... or needs. I did it quickly on headphones. I'll tidy it up a bit whilst other contributors do their thang.
