Re: The workbench thread
What shades of each? In a general sort of sense, IMO, if sparkle, then purple. If solid, then green.

Re: The workbench thread
Sparkle purple would be hot and sexxxie! Green- British Racing Green?- would give it a spiffy old-school vibe, like something I'd see in an old studio. The tube thing didn't even register to me; I don't even pay attention to guitar gear anymore. I've been staring at recording hardware for so long that's what it looks like to me. Like a big honking t00b channel strip or somesuch.

Re: The workbench thread
My guitar luthier buddy is doing the spray job. I've given him a bunch of colours that would work for me and he's going to do whatever so its going to be a surprise. It'll be hot either way so I'm not fussed and it will be better than hammond functional grey thats for sure

Re: The workbench thread

Re: The workbench thread
Put the decals on today. Should be getting clear coat on it tomorrow to hide my shitty job Just need to wire this mother up then. I plan to have it done this weekend but that depends on whether or not I fall into another drinking void again. In other news I bought Merlin Blencowes (valvewizard) new book on designing power supplies and Richard Kuehnels book on guitar power amps. Gonna step this shit up a gear I bought Kuehnels book as I'm confused about a few things and its always nice to have a book. Been looking a lot at load lines for power tubes and I had no idea how much of a shit job marshall have been doing! This thread by randal aiken over at ax84 really shows what a cluster fuck they made of it: http://www.ax84.com/bbs/dm.php?thread=409091

Re: The workbench thread
Nice. Also loadlines are definitely the stuff that maps are made of. Figgering out how to work them is more or less what allows making "new" designs possible. When they were first shown to me (by the ever helpful Zaphod Phil over at 18w.com, and also at AX84) it was seriously like the clouds parting you see this behind: So simple. So much information in a tiny little graph. Superduper.
