1. It is winful. It's as fine a bass as you could ask for.

I play a fiver every time I go to the local shop. The action is a bit low for my taste, but it plays so smooth.

2. It's a pretty kickass head. The smaller GKs could work well if you want to mic up a bass map, or seeing as they're SS, you could turn down. And still have more than enough map to gig with.

Yeah I have been looking into the smaller SS ones. I think I may go that route just because I already know I am a fan of GK toanes. Plus, I push my bass so hard with fuzz and stuff it really doesn't matter

3. He loves the damn thing. It's very punchy and clear. Also, my ex-cab, which I sold to my bassist as I wasn't gigging as a bass player. Also, it weighs nothing, approximately. It's significantly lighter than a Marshall 4x12 guitar cab, and maybe lighter than my AC30. Lotsa clarity from that cab.

I heard they were really punchy  There are a couple of used ones available around here I might try to snag.

4. It's interesting. It's really acting more like a big dirty tube limiter. And if I think it sucks I have a clean DI to reamp. I'm leaving the mics up until tomorrow to see what I think of that.

That makes sense. I like pushing and limiting dirty bass.

5. Synths are mad gay, Brohann. :red:

So gay ... I must have them all :mob:

That's a real tasteful setup though. I take it he is a fan of the gritty bass toanes?

It always seems to have some dirt to it even when he's playing clean. I think everyone in the band likes their tones a bit rough around the edges. We'll distort anything. :nods:

Speaking of which, I'm back at the studio remapping DIed bass through guitar pedals for the hell of it. My OCD is currently being tracked with by a phantom bassist at the moment.

I sometimes run bass through the crunch channel of the XXX. High pass at 100hz and instant massiveness.

I don't doubt that! Running bass through dirty guitar amps is good times.

I may post some bass clips later; his tone is awesome. :nods:

Hopefully we'll get the drums done on those two this weekend. I am currently attempting to acquire more mics and pres (four channel strips out of an old AMEK console. Not the Scorpion, either. I think an Angela?) for use, as well as another Firewire interface if we want more than 10 channels for some dumbass reason?

Drums in question are a Pearl custom shop kit with a 24" kick and a really deep-ass snare, like 8-8 1/2 inches and a load of nice Zildjians, mostly As and A Customs IIRC.

I may not buy a bass amp depending on how my Titan Modded Bassman can handle the low-end.

Chances are I will buy a bass amp anyway, but I am holding off in hopes it will be beefy enough.

It's rarely the amp in question, it's the cab.

And I think your Bassman would work.

I would probably mic the BL80 in there, since it tends to handle the lows a bit better. Maybe a mic a few feet back from the R60 (both are 12"s) to get some mids in there.

Drum session set up, assistant engineer and equipment acquired. :nods: :rawk:

Final album mixes of Industrial Snaxorawk will be gifted unto you in the comparatively near future.
