Yeah with 3 12ax7s im pushing it pretty much to the top of its capacity. The ratings are fairly conservative though. There ought to be enough juice for a 5V regulator though. If there isnt then I'm going to have to think about how to do this. Optoisolator type stull like on the SLO might work out but I'd prefer relays.

The switching works now and the LEDS are hella bright and dont dim when more than one is on.

Tonally it needs work though. Its shrill and has no/little bass for some reason.

I am thinking you might want to, if you have not already, reflow all of your solder joints on the controls, and possibly to the board as well. Unless i am missing something, built to the schematic, that thing shouldn't be particularly shrill, as drawn, IMO.

Though, also, if nothing screwy presents itself, you might try to remove the 220p from its connection to the treble control just to test it. In a vox circuit that would be more like 47p(though the other caps in the rest of the tone stack would also be much smaller) and the 267p that you have there now i guess should pimp the upper mids some, compared?

input or R8 to output sounds sexual and the pots work as expected so they're okay.

using a crocodile clip to jump the output of the clean straight to output sounds just fine so i suspect the problem is either intermittent (annoying ) or in the switching

What are you switching with, relays? If so, did you socket them?

My first inclination again, would be to reflow all of the solder joints in that region. Make sure they are done proper and solid before you get too deep into taking anything out.

Intermittent faults in new builds, are generally, in my experience, either broken solder joints, or broken pots. Occasionally, they will be bad tubes, but that is easy enough to swaptest for.

Yup they are on sockets so they might not be making good connections. The tubes should be good but I'll swap em out with some from my bag of misc. shit

Sockets are good, in anything but maybe some combo maps. And unless either the sockets or relays are visibly banged up, they are probably fine. More likely a problem would be bad solder joints to the sockets, or possibly electrically damaged relays.

Changed R17 from 100K to 220K for more output swing, also removed C13.
Changed R22 from 39K to 10K so I get more gain but still coldish clipping.

With the boost engaged its perhaps a bit too loud so I may need a bit more attenuation but damn its teh brootz haha

I havent managed to get a distorted tone with my strat and mic placement and all my other guitars are tuned to dick so errr... here it is with the end missing until I can get another guitar to do properly.
