I've only done shrooms, but I did them in a controlled environment both times. Very fun,enlightening/trips.

They can be grown indoors but it's very hard. Everything has to be sterile. Wait til spring.

On the subject of growing drugs, I have wanted foreverz to grow some opium poppies. Apparently the most commonly purchased poppy seeds are the same super producer breed for making drugz.

Yus, but still, the general climate does seem to affect indoor plants (and/or I suppose fungi). My friend's GF is from the prairie provinces, and she has never seen indoor orchids bloom, thinks it's impossible to pull off. They do that shit all the time here near the Great Lakes.

I see what you mean, but has she tried growing them in a terrarium with the temperature, humidity, light and air flow/ventilation controlled, while inside of a sealed sterile environment?

When growing a fungus like shrooms, it seems best to try to avoid any influence from the ambient environment. While SC climate may be more appropriate than others to grow fungus, the point is to eliminate that factor and create the best environment artificially.

Chances are, she is trying to grow the plants using natural light by the window. There you are already losing control of light, temperature and humidity exposure to the plant. You would need to place water near/below the plant or use a humidifier to keep it happy (IIRC, orchids require a pretty humid environment), have it the proper distance from a window facing the proper direction for the correct amount of light exposure (also, it may need to be filtered light through a curtain instead of direct exposure which can wreak havoc on plants) and make sure that the temperature (both day and night, some plants require different temperatures at different times of the day) is right throughout the day.

Once you introduce natural environments to plants not meant to grow there, you start having a lot of issues.

A quick google search indicates that indoor orchids generally need to be in a humid environment during the day, and a dry environment during the night. They can survive from about 50-80 degrees, but the night time temperatures generally need to be about 15 degrees colder. They usually do better with filtered light than direct exposure, and evidently are pretty peculiar to the amount of light they get.

Not difficult, but definitely pretty picky as far as indoor plants go.

Shrooms are easy 'cause they take no space. Easy to create their own little environment.
