Not particularly, it was pretty damn secular what with all the study and glorification of the human body and emphasis on experience in the living world :o Not to mention it kinda planted teh seeds of teh reformation. :snax:. More humanistic than anything :dastardly: :eekass:

dude i love humanism <333 to be one with humanity, one with nature is to be one with "God," whether by god you mean christian god, or mother nature, or any higher power. If there is a god, which i have a hunch there is, he resides in all of us, and all of the living, natural world.

That chart is silly anyway.

Despite Christianity, there was still plenty of scientific and other advancements during the "Dark Ages".

See, the thing is, there was a world outside of christian europe during the middle ages. You know, those crazy eastern Muslims and such. Yeah, well those guys were still cranking out the science. In fact, had the Muslims taken over Europe, there probably would not have been a need for the Italian Renaissance.

You see, the problem was that a lot of the scientific and philosphical texts left from the ancient world were written in languages that no one could understand.

Actually, most historians find the label Dark Ages inaccurate, as it gives a negative connotation to the period. There was scientific advancement, even within Western Europe under the Roman Catholic Church.

Read this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Science_in_the_Middle_Ages for more information.

As far as the debate of which christian demonination is superior. I give Catholicism a tip for being the OGs, and Lutherans a tip because Martin Luther wanted to end corruption in the church. The Anglican/Baptist churches were formed for less than stellar reasons though ...

But in the end, Jesus preached the golden rule, do unto others as you want done unto you. It is simple, and it makes sense. Regardless of your belief system, if you just treated everyone with basic human compassion the world will be a much better place.

dude, great post ! i agree, but the problem with lutherans was that instead of actually ending corruption in the church, they broke away.
