You could mount it as an internal trimpot, also?

I hear you though. I considered it for my last amp but ended up leaving it out. I will probably use one in my next build though. Probably stick with the super simple bass/treble vox stack that i love, and add the slope in between them labeled "fucked up mids knob" or something.

I like the internal trimpot idea. I'm trying to not have a million panel controls on stuff if I can help it just remove the possibility of dialling it badly for other people as some of the controls are a bit counter intuitive and most people try to dial an amp in with their eyes.

So the bits are in the mail for this. Should be here from when I return from my adventuring in Walesland.

In other news I converted my preamp to be much more of a higher gain thang. Did away with the switchable boost and added that stage into the lead channel. The layout is a bit messy and stuff is all over the place which hasnt done much for the noise but I was expecting that. The whole thing is a dick about box anyway so fuck it. In a nutshell I borrowed heavily from the Iommi sig laney but didnt have enough stages for the cathode follower to drive the tone stack so I ignored it and put the TS on the plate of the stage before. This thing has serious balls and clarity! I cant get over it. Needs a wee bit of tweaking to get the extreme lows and highs sounding right but its pretty damn close to what I'm after which is a nice and open high gain motherbitch. The amp I'm running it through doesnt have depth or presence controls which would probably dial it in just right. I think I'll use something very similar to this in my war bastard amp when I finally build that.

Drilled out the IEC socket today, going to cut and populate the board on saturday. I'll drill, label and clear coat the chassis on sunday.

I've just nipped down to my departments workshop to get the board cut to size. I still need to check the PI and filtering layout t make sure I havent been a goon. The board mounting holes arent going to move though so I'm going to drill those out so I can drill the chassis and test fit everything. Then I can label and clear coat the chassis

Is the layout is golden then I'll populate the board tomorrow and then this sucka should be built by the weekend

This is the first chassis I've drilled. Its a little wonky in places but its nothing a little file work wont fix up.

Also there was a goddamn B250K pot missing from my parts order
Oh well... one should arrive by the time I'm ready to fire her up.
