Re: What Are U Listening To Right Now: Home Surgery Instruct
IMO, the perfect blending of rock and metal stylings in one song.

Just finished watching/listening to this.
And it is still pretty awesome, mainly the actual live footage.
Guy Picciotto is like the gold standard of onstage energy and presence. Dude is a fucking tireless beast.

Turkish Disco has such a cool bassline. I used it for a music bed on a uni radio show a while ago and everyone loved it and demanded to know what it was Snare drum on that track kicks like a motherfucker as well

My mom has my dad's BADASS setup from the 70's. I told her that is the one thing I want to inherit.

Snax-O, you bastard.
I wish I lived in Buffalo just so that my ETID love would be more justified. Are there a lot of bands that play in that vein in the area?
There was a big hardcore scene in Buffalo when I was in high school. Not so much these days I don't think. It's just really not my thing; I don't hate it and go "man, this fukkin' blows" but the genre doesn't move me at all, and I've at least given the big deal bands a listen. Something in the way both the rage and the heaviness is delivered I just don't connect with. On the other end of the heavy spectrum, I don't particularly care for power metal either. Or really techy stuff. The latter two are why I think the Spiral Architect record is one of the worst things I ever paid money for.
My heavy music preferences tend toward Big Dumb Riff-oriented stuff- thrash/death/doom- with an occasional side of experimentation with electronic twiddlybits and industrialisms.

This, on the other hand, I can totally get behind. Both this and Covenant kick serious ass.

Covenant's production is really something. Spacious, natural drums. Guitars might be a bit too smooth though. You can tell it was recorded in a nice studio by someone who was not generally involved with death metal...
