It is the laptop.

After the defrag and a bit of cleaning it seems to be a bit better. But, it still gets wonky when I plug my interface in, so I think there may be an issue with the USB plugs or the drivers. I'm probably going to mess with those tonight when I have my interface in front of me.

SD2 is pretty fun though.

SD2 is really, really nice. I laugh at the metald00ds who say SD2 sounds dead and lifeless. Because I listen to their clips, and they could have been done with the original Drumkit From Hell and I'd never know the difference because they use the same shitty cliché sounds on everything and their mixes sound like overcompressed asshole. But I digress. I particularly like the character of the different snares!

I am now programming a little Nintendo melody over those drums.

Then a bit of trumpet.

Then I get out the interface and hope the driver update worked, then I can put geetz and bass over it.

I hate SD2's metal-ish clicktacular kicks. Other than that, SD2 kicks serious ass. Especially the snares and toms.

Ah, they aren't that clicky actually. Unless you make them that way, like me.

In SD2 you have a virtual mixing desk, and for the kick you have channels for a standard kick mic, beater mic (this I EQ to bring out clicky hi mids), and a woofer. You can apply compression, EQ etc to each channel. So the kick has a lot of possibilities.

What Geoff said. I usually run the internal channels completely or nearly dry and adjust the levels to taste, slap a comp across the bus and maybe an EQ depending on how the kick sits in the mix and am done with it. Oftentimes I'll use Flux Bittersweet versus the built-in transient shaper across the whole think if I need more kick and snare punch overall.

I think there should be a tv show about my college life. It would involve drinking a lot and my drunken shenanigans.

My bestestest friend and I had a similar idea about the exploits of an underemployed graphic artist and an overeducated schoolteacher and the pack of oddball characters who occasionally accompany them who go to a different bar- all sorts of different bars and different crowds- every Friday night and wind up encountering all sorts of crazy people and fucked up situations. This, of course, would bear no resemblance whatsoever to anyone's actual life and none of the characters or situations would be based- quite accurately- on actual people.

We figure due to content it would be an HBO series.

So I need a name for a spoof Home Shopping Network/QVC TV channel.

I am thinking: Couch Mall, Shop TV, Shoppers Network, Market TV, Home Market TV (HMTV)

I don't know, something. I just had a stroke of inspiration.

I really like that.

I might use that for one of the show titles ...
