That would be a very separate band, yes. I play bass. I'm not much of a metal guitarist, but a bassist with a sense of groove and melody and theory knowledge and decent chops is useful in any genre. It's a fun fuckoff gig for me. I show up, rock out, and come up with left-field ideas no one else in the band would think of because I listen mostly to stuff that... isn't metal. It requires little to no effort on my part, I get to wank off on bass and play stupid shit I could never get away with if I had to restrain myself and be tasteful. Instrumentally it's a three-piece (the guitarist plays a bit of synth, or rather programs it at home and triggers it off his laptop) so it's sorta the power trio + vocal format with three really really busy instrumentalists going off all OTT. I think there's a dearth of interesting bass work in metal- and I like metal (as much as I like anything else; I like bands more than genres)- so I kinda appointed myself bassist in my friend's band. I've worked with him on a few projects in the past, he engineers my drum sessions, we talk music all the time anyhow. It works.

It's something for me to do on Wednesday, basically. We moved the rehearsal to Thursday this week to accommodate a no-show vocalist who... Yeah, this is not working, so we're getting someone else. I'm already fronting another band, so I'm using that as an excuse as to why I'm not accepting that particular responsibility!

I'm also a dumbass and failed to copy this past rehearsal onto my computer before I went home. It's just as well; it spares me the trouble of having to cut it up into individual songs and delete all the talking. I played better last time anyway; I think everyone did. It was an off night. I'll make the guitar player do it; it's his recorder.

My cold has decided to move into my sinuses. So now my nose has become useless, and everything sounds i little bit like i have ear plugs in.

Both things are of course, completely awesome.

Super Bonus Round: three days of coughing shit up has also started the process through which, i am starting to lose my voice.

Yuss, very good I thought. It is a bit OTT in terms of how violent things get but I found it enjoyable throughout, and Michael Caine is a badass in it
