Tried to play this at a party (again) and people still did not respond well.
I figured it'd be okay because people were previously playing electronic musickz (the shitty kind) and this is pretty funny.



Alas, people said it's too frantic and it makes them feel like they're having a panic attack.

Yeah, that is one of the things i love about Venetian Snares.

And that stuff is even a lot less crazy than much of his other stuff.

I'm enjoying that venetian snares.

I started paying attention to them when Chris posted some dude playing REAL drums to their shit and was nailing it perfectly.
I've listened to them a little bit fairly consistently since then, and a lot of that has to do with that fact that I would love to be a proficient breakbeat drummer more than any other style.

Take lessons, learn your rudiments, do drum corps.

Breakbeats are basically jazz drums with fucked up changes. Awesome, but you need to get the classic oldschool skills down or else you will just be making it way harder on yourself.

One of the only things i have considered getting some formal learning on. In my opinion, i have huge nonsensical skill holes with my drumming. Most of them have to do with some of the most basic stuff that i wished i had learned in the first year, rather than trying to go back and teach it to limbs that have been doing it stupid for another twenty or whatever.

Looks like I'm gonna have to start reading up on the drum books that I have.

Or you can just play whatever your little ears hear in your head!

This is what I have been doing since I started for the most part.
I've picked out a few cool breakbeat/fucked up hip-hop beats that I really love playing and think sound badass.
I am definitely most interested in hi-hat fuckery..

So much of the finest fuckery: snare, tom, hi-hat, or whatever, is paradiddle- or otherwise general rudiment-based that it is mindblowing.

See, I have a couple (literally just two) paradiddles that I like to fuck around/warm up with on the snare but when it comes to applying them to actual playing I get completely lost..
