Bang-for-buck? Probably says "Yamaha" on it.

If you want to pay jack shit for something you can monitor on that's a nice home listening rig too, Polk S4 or Monitor Series 4 or something along those lines. I have a pair of these (and a couple Infinity subs, the one that Chris Lord-Alge uses, not because of that but because I happened to pick up two of them. One has a busted driver. But I digress.) and honestly they're as good as any inexpensive monitor and you would have to pay substantially more to get increased performance. They sound like a nearfield monitor, not a home stereo speaker. Kind of a love-or-hate thing because of the light bass response for stereo applications, but damn good. Flat sound, not hyped. They cost nothing for what they are. Total sleepers.

I'm entirely serious about that too.

I don't blame you. Both sound good- and substantially different from each other- and are useful tools. And having two pairs of good 'phones kicking about never ever hurts if you're recording someone who isn't you, especially in home/project studio situations where you probably don't have a control room/live room setup. I had one-ish in my old house (it was still loud in the control room, but at least the source was isolated.) and would like to have one again, but aside from that I'm SOL unless I'm paying out the yang for time.

Not at the moment. I had to reinstall my OS, and since my case is dented from where the thing took a fall- incidentally right above my DVD drive- I had to pull the thing apart to get the system install DVD loaded. After which point I let the thing run whilst I went down the street to a bar. Now I have to sort through the detritus to clear out some space on my main drive. But I should be up and running smoovely, albeit on an OS from 2006. Shrug. I'll trade things running a bit faster and a couple gig of space for Logic actually running properly.

got hammered at a gig last night drinking JD. My thinking of drinking JD is I don't like it as much as say Makers or JW Black so I would sip it slower. Which proved true for the first 3-4 drinks (on the rocks). Fe4lt like shit this morning though. On the good side whilst shaking my ass on the bar while playing I did get $2 shoved in my pants. Ah yes, and the shover was even female. :nods:

I'd love to play hammered in front of people, pull it off and not even give a fuck...

Actually didn't get wasted until we were off after the 3rd set and were just hanging drinking with the folks afterwards. Yeah, jumping on the bar is something I do sober...

I have not, to the best of my knowledge, actually been up on the bar at any point ever. Perhaps I should remedy this.

I was drinking chocolate martinis at a lesbian bar Saturday night with a former co-worker (the only one I'd associate with outside of work) who incidentally is not female  and don't remember getting home. I have my keys, wallet and Visa card, so shit's all good, yo.

On an unrelated note, I realize that I've replaced all my personal relationships with professional ones, pretty much. I have acquaintances and people I see/know, but no friends as such, no one I'm close to. And I'm happier this way. I have no one else's drama fucking up my world. I've come to the conclusion I'm not someone you want in your life- my relationships were always fucked-up codependent things anyhow. What this says about my sad beat-down little world, I don't know... And don't care. And the latter really sums it up. I exist to make noise, fuck all the rest.

I forgot to post this yesterday: I found an old Peavey live mixing console at the curb yesterday. Naturally, I ganked it posthaste. It is a giant heavy sumbitch. Alas, no transformers after opening it up- it's old enough! The toggle switch to power it on is busted. Other than that, it seems? fine? There's a fixed-setting bus compressor and a spring 'verb tank in it, so funtoys may come out of this. I'm giving it to the sitarist in my metalband to see if he can make it work and what we can do with it.

I've never been one to name my guitars or such, but objects that already have people names assigned to them I will refer to by said names. Henry Building (a few blocks from me), Christina Prepress (a tape dispenser in my department) and Phoebe Binder are proper anthropomorphic and I will refer to them by first and last name rather than as objects.

How many shannelles?

My town and most of the ones around here went to a retarded automated robot trash pickup that basically results in nothing cool ever going to the curb. Sucks. I want more good trash.

I have a tendency to converse with and refer to all surrounding objects as if they possessed free will and emotions. I don't rename them so much. Except for the inherited pets, whose names i change from whatever my sisters named them, to whatever type of beast they are.

My guitars technically have names but I never refer to them as their names. I think I should stop calling them girl names. Mr. Sharpie has a nice ring to it though :isay:

Speaking of trash, I should visit the guitar stores to see if they have spare amp head boxes, but being car less make this much more difficult.

Twelve, with two buses and a master section. It is gigantor and in pretty good shape considering it's from 1979.

Best thing found in the trash by someone I've met is a '30s Ludwig snare. :huzzah:

Best gear-related trash find ever would probably have to be the 80 input SSL that's now at SAE if my memory is correct.
