Re: The Chris Thread Ferrofluid. Basically, magnetic dust suspended in an oil. All of the shapes happen due to the manipulation of electromagnetic fields. Either with like electro magnets, or just regular strong rare erf magnets. You could actually make your own fluid with printer toner and veggie oil. Shit is messy as allfuck though.

Re: The Chris Thread He was supposed to give a lecture on teaching sciences in schools and such, but instead spent the entire hour talking about how he awesomely helped design the sundial on the Mars rover. Which, is cool admittedly but not an hours worth of lecture cool. Also a girl in my class made a t-shirt depicting him in his coat and tie with the caption "Every girl is crazy about a sharp dressed man" and wore it to the conference (South Carolina Science Council). She stood in his autograph line for a little over half an hour just for him to not sign it. Kind of a douche.
