 Re: The Chris Thread
people in the developed world, most notable the USA, use something like 5000+ litres of water a day.
You have to consider drinking water, the water used to process the fuel you put in your car, the water used to wash your dishes, your clothes, the water used to manufacture your clothes, the water used to manufacture your paper, your various work instruments, the water bottle and coffee cup you bought on the way to work. Also the water used to grow your food, feed the cattle that produced the fertilizer, an the steak you sit down to eat.
i'll return with a more accurate number later

Probably the only useful thing i have seen because of HCAF, in years: Yes, that is Paula Deen riding a platypus.

 Re: The Chris Thread
I just saw that.
Honestly, some of the dumb shit they talk about over there blows my mind. Not the topics, but just how so many of them are just ... so wrong and totally bandwagon behind whoever "types the loudest" meaning whoever insults the opposition more. Like in the WBC thread not to long ago.
But every once in a while they strike silver.

 Re: The Chris Thread
HC is fucking idiotic. I posted in this thread about Three Doors Down (it had a grammatical error in the title, so I guess I should have known) and instantly was met with pure redneck idiocy.

 Re: The Chris Thread
No, i am not even kidding, that Paula Deen .gif is like the ONLY useful thing i have come across because of that forum, in probably three years. I check in because some folks like Dan/newholland are more likely to poast there than here, but that place is really pretty useless, and not in a remotely good way. HCFX is a little better, but mainly because they like a lot of the same shitty music that i like.

 Re: The Chris Thread
Yeah as a collective they are pretty retarded. There are a few decent members, but I have never seen so many people try to be so cool on the internet. They think they are like, the badasses of the internet, when honestly they are the equivalent of middle-aged rednecks who just happen to listen to metal.

 Re: The Chris Thread
I have been continually surprised in "post a picture of yourself" threads there just how middle aged pretty much everyone there is. Honestly, the politics/redneckeries were easier for me to ignore when i just assumed that they were all like fifteen to twenty years old.

 Re: The Chris Thread
My impression is actually that HCAF is basically, middle aged men with disposable income, and young men on their way to becoming such.

 Re: The Chris Thread
And that is totally what it is. It is therefore extra amusing(and not really surprising) that they have that continuing anti-TGP feud. Really, two sides of the same coin. Both forums equally shit. One can't hear that a dumble sounds like a tubescreamer, that indeed most of their most favorite expensive pedals sound like(and generally are) tubescreamers. The other can't hear that every single one of their metal amps sounds the same. No matter how expensive they get.

 Re: The Chris Thread
I can't believe how much some of them spend on high-gain amps with little to no character. Spend your money however you want, but there are a lot of great metal amps that don't cost over $1500.

 Re: The Chris Thread
Or, like half that. All any of them really want is a Recto or a 5150 anyhow.
BECAUSE 99% OF ALL METAL (WHICH PRETTY MUCH ALL SOUNDS THE SAME) WAS RECORDED WITH A RECTO OR 5150.
Or both.

 Re: The Chris Thread
I was thinking purely new as well. I wonder how many of the boutiquey high-gainers are just basically modified 5150, Recto, Soldano or Marshall designs? Each of the super expensive ones are usually describes as sounding like "a better [one of those amps]."

 Re: The Chris Thread
IMO, the circuits don't even matter. Once you get to a certain gain level, a certain amount of signal clipping, everything starts to get very similar.
Add to that the even worse problem of production/mixing trends which are designed to ensure utmost uniformity of output, and it really doesn't matter what the fuck you show up with.

 Re: The Chris Thread
My favorite is that spend $1000s on tube amps, when most of the tones sound like a SS amp. Mike gets way better tones with his snax then most of them do with even more expensive rigs. Also, they spend a shit ton on an awesome amp, but spend nothing to record it. Then they blame the amp when the clips suck.

 Re: The Chris Thread
And really, that is the same thing that just about anyone who spends very much money on anything runs into. With what is available for quality/price out there right now, the diminishing returns set in quite early.. Well, anyhow, that is about as much haterade as i am wont to release today. So here is a picture of a mallard with an crocodile's head:

 Re: The Chris Thread
That thing looks like it could be found in an awesome taxidermy shop.

 Re: The Chris Thread
What was the name of that doods taxidermy shop in the steve martin movie Roxanne?
IIRC, it was something awesome like All Things Dead?
That would also be the name of the place in which one might find a crocoduck.

 Re: The Chris Thread
Oh also, randomly, i used to have an old stuffed mallard here at the house that my dad shot back in the day and had stuffed. It was ancient.
It was also pretty nasty, dusty, and its beak and feet started to fall prey to dry rot. We finally threw it away just last summer.
However, if it had possessed the head of a small crocodile rather than the disintegrating beak of a duck, that shit would still be pimping right there in the front office.

 Re: The Chris Thread
Evidently there are taxidermists who have a thing for combining two animals to make awesome hybrids. I want to find such a shop.
